These groups could be a pair, trio or a small group of 4. "Grouping for Active Processing" explains how small groups benefit students because they can process their learning through one another by communicating what and how they learned. The next strategy explained was "Job Cards". Job Cards allow students to be an active participant by clearly setting expectations for their contributions to the discussion. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Technology That Can Help Element 7</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Websites like "Team Maker" allow teachers to randomize groups easily. Students can use an electronic device to track the group interactions and add to the discussion by taking notes and asking questions. I have had success doing this using classroomscreen.com. Technology can help with 'Job Cards' by randomly assigning roles.&nbsp;Students could also fill out these roles digitally. I have had success in my classroom tracking which role they have been in my digital gradebook. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Implementation Tips for Element 7</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have implemented these strategies in literature circles. Each week students are given a role (Job Card Strategy) that they are responsible for completing. By completing their role (vocabulary enricher, summarizer, discussion director, travel tracer, connector) they add something new each week to the discussion. But every role is always discussed. This has allowed me to assess students on multiple critical concepts over the course of literature circles since they all rotate. I used "Grouping for Active Processing" while creating literature circle groups. I could have done random in classroom screen or team maker but I created groups based on which book is accessible to their reading level. Other ideas for implementation could be as simple as randomizing pairs or small groups to summarize a lesson as an exit ticket or for review. </div>]]></description>
