         <description><![CDATA[<div>Brown vs. Board of education was a court case that said that no person should be segregated based on race in schools. Before this court case many schools were kept segregated thanks to the Plessy vs. Ferguson case in 1896 and no one did anything about it until the 1950's the NAACP made challenged it for some of the families that wanted to challenge it in Kansas, South Carolina, Virginia.</div>]]></description>

Sanford:</li></ul><div>The Supreme Court denied citizenship to Black people, setting the stage for their treatment as second class citizens.</div><ul><li>1865 Bureau of Refugees and Freedmen / Black Codes:</li></ul><div>The first Black school were set up under the Freedmen's Bureau. Public schools were segregated.</div><ul><li>1866 Civil Rights Act:</li></ul><div>The intention of this law was to protect all people of their civil rights no matter what the race.</div><ul><li>1875 Civil Rights Act:</li></ul><div>Prohibited segregation in public places.</div><ul><li>1887 Jim Crow Laws:</li></ul><div>Blacks largely disappeared for juries in the South</div><ul><li>1896 Plessy v.
