Special Education vs. Inclusion and Regular Education: Regular Education is mandated by the standard curriculum whereas Special Education uses a different approach that caters the different needs of a child with special needs. Special education provides additional services, support, programs, and placements to meet the student’s individual needs and differences. Special Education requires intensive and individualized instructional methods and resources for the learning materials that is appropriate to support the the learning of the students with special needs. Inclusion allows students with special needs to be given the same educational opportunities as their classmates or peers. However, accommodations and special services such as modification to curriculum are provided to student to support the student’s learning. Inclusion also is beneficial to students as it provides opportunities to engage and interact with developing peers who have a wide variety of skills and abilities. - Kim :)

1. Special education is a service that provides education to children or students with certain educational needs. Special education serves as a support and caters specifically to those that may struggle academically due to a disability. This assistance may come in the form of an individualized educational plan, curriculum accommodations, or modifications.
2. Inclusion is one of the many ways in which special education is provided. Inclusion follows the idea of putting students in the least restrictive environment, which often means placing students in general education classroom settings. With inclusion, children with special education needs get to learn alongside their peers without disabilities while receiving support through accommodation, modification, or individualization of the curriculum.
3. General education involves a standard curriculum that is taught to typically developing students. - Mer

1. Special Education - Teachers have variety of teaching strategies where materials are covered at a slower pace and manages students' disruptive behavior or inattention. Teachers continue to monitor student behavior, and praise students. Each student in SPED has an IEP that becomes a plan on assisting the students with their unique needs with accommodation or modifications. Class size is usually 15 and teachers most likely have advanced degrees for them to be capable enough to accommodate students with special needs.
2. Inclusion - Children are all in the same classrooms and in the same schools where real learning opportunities are given to those groups who had been excluded from the education system. Inclusion values the unique contributions of all students that allows diverse groups to grow side by side. Teachers must be trained, building must be refurbished, and students must receive accessible learning materials. Stigma and discrimination are tackled and understood by all learners.
3. General Education - Curriculums and Lesson Plans are based on average learners where there are higher standards and raised expectations. Teachers focus on content and developmental stage of its typically developing students. Class size is usually from 21-24 students.
