         <description><![CDATA[<div>In my perspective, Leibniz was the discovery of calculus. Even though Sir Isaac Newton was a mathematician and scientist, and he was the first person who was credited with developing calculus. <br>The real confirmation was when the subject of doubt was published.<br><br>Newton took the individual letters a, c, d, e, and he put them just in order. He said there are six a’s, two c’s, one d, 13 e’s, two f’s. He put them in order and this was what he included in this letter to Leibniz to establish his priority for calculus. Even though you read the sentence, it means very little to anybody. Even a mathematician wouldn’t know from the actual translation of the sentence exactly what it was that he had done. <br>Newton tried to establish his priority in that fashion, but what followed were accusations that Leibniz had read some of Newton’s manuscripts before he conceived his own ideas. But, since Leibniz had published first, people who sided with Leibniz said that Newton had stolen the ideas from Leibniz.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>According to me, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was the discoverer of calculus. The controversy surrounds Newton’s development of the concept of calculus during the middle of the 1660s. Between 1664 and 1666, he asserts that he invented the basic ideas of calculus. In 1669, he wrote a paper on it but refused to publish it. He wrote two additional papers, in 1671 and 1676 on calculus, but wouldn’t publish them. In time, these papers were eventually published.<br>However, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz independently invented calculus. He invented calculus somewhere in the middle of the 1670s. He said that he conceived of the ideas in about 1674, and then published the ideas in 1684, 10 years later. His paper on calculus was called “A New Method for Maxima and Minima, as Well Tangents, Which is not Obstructed by Fractional or Irrational Quantities.” It was six pages, extremely obscure, and was very difficult to understand.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>For many years , English scientist Isaac Newton and German philosopher Gottfried Leibniz claimed they invented calculus.But according to Reserchers , a little group of scholars and mathematicians in fourteenth century in India, identified the "infinite series" — one of the basic components of calculus.It is also stated that the beginning of Morden maths was from the discoveries in medieval India between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, but they were ignored.The reason were that Europeans ignored them as it was non-european country and it had also caused  language barrier as they were written in language of sanskrit. But later in 17 centuries ,  Newton and Leibnz had discovered and took credit for it.In my opinion it depends on  who discovered first.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many people believe that the founder of any innovation should be based on who discovers the topic first? But is that fair? Isn't it possible that the first person to be published is not necessarily the innovator of the idea? After all, being published not only has to do with submitting work that has merit, but it also with academic connections and public reputation. Therefore there are some controversies for discoveries and this is the point of view they should look at when they claim that the founder of calculus is either Leibniz or Newton. <br>But according to most of the references it has been concluded that "Today it <strong>is</strong> generally believed that <strong>calculus</strong> was <strong>discovered</strong> independently in the late 17th century by two great mathematicians: Isaac Newton and Gottfried Leibniz."<br>So both of these mathematicians are been said to be the founder. </div><div><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>According to me, Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz (1646-1716) is the founder of calculus because he was the first to publish his work in the field, his notation is essentially that of modern calculus, and his version is that which was most widely disseminated.</div><div>Back in Paris, Leibniz continued his study of mathematics. His interest in the study of infinitesimals led him to discover a set of new mathematical techniques he called differential calculus. By the end of 1675, Leibniz had developed the basic techniques of his new discovery. It was not until 1684 that he published the details of differential calculus in the journal <em>Acta eruditorum</em>. Two years later, he published the details of integral calculus in the same journal.</div><div>One simple reason that Leibniz should be considered the discoverer of calculus instead of Newton is simply that Newton delayed publishing his work, and in fact did not clearly explain his discovery to anyone, until long after Leibniz had independently found his own version of calculus and published his results. Whereas Leibniz published his work in the mid-1680s, the first published account from Newton did not appear until 1704, as an appendix to his work on the science of optics. Other than being the first to publish, Leibniz's version of calculus was disseminated widely in Europe. Two Swiss brothers, Jacob Bernoulli (1654-1705) and Johann Bernoulli (1667-1748), were especially important in the circulation of Leibniz's ideas. The Bernoullis were not only innovators in the new field of calculus, but they were also enthusiastic and prolific teachers. One of Johann's students, the Marquis de l'Hôpital (1661-1704), published the first differential calculus textbook in 1696. Much of the credit for the spread of Leibnizian calculus in Europe belongs to these extraordinary brothers. Another claim for the priority of Leibniz in the calculus question is that his notation, for the most part, is the notation that was adopted and continues to be in use today. Much of Newton's notation was awkward, and very little remains a part of modern calculus. Leibniz, on the other hand, was the first to use such familiar notation as the integral sign ∫. Leibniz also invented the differential notation ( <em>dx, dy,</em> etc.) favored by most calculus texts. Leibniz's development of the notation of calculus goes hand-in-hand with his life-long dream of creating a sort of "algebra" to describe the whole of human knowledge.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> Two great mathematicians, Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhlm Leibniz developed independent theories about their discovery of calculus. <br>Newton wrote papers on it but refused to publish it, none of his works on calculus were published until the 18th century. Whilst Leibniz conceived his ideas in about 1674 and published his ideas in 1684. There were many controversies that followed. In my opinion, when there are 2 independent theories, we are obligated to learn about both of them, regardless of who came first. Credits can be shared.<br>While Newton came up with many theorems and uses prior, the conclusion is that Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz invented calculus.</div>]]></description>
