The legend of "El abuelo" of Jaén tells that an old man stayed the night at a house on the outskirts of the city. Upon seeing an olive trunk, he said that a good "Nazareno" would come from it. The owners, surprised, asked if he could do it, and he requested to work alone in a room without tools. After a while with no noise, the owners entered and, to their amazement, found a beautiful image of the Nazareno instead of the trunk. This is the legend behind the procession known as "The Grandfather."

In Jaén, the story of Father Canillas is told, a ghost that brings misfortune and death. He was a thin priest with long strides, whose sin condemned him to wander.

Some say he broke his vocation or practiced forbidden magic. Since then, his ghost roams roads and alleys, seeking forgiveness or trapping those who see him.

He is described as a tall and skinny friar, with sunken eyes and a cold gaze. If he appears, it means death and misfortune for whoever sees him.

For this reason, many avoid certain paths at night, fearing an encounter with him. The legend remains alive, reminding us that some souls never find peace.
