The structure aims to go beyond traditional limits, encouraging audiences to interact with its message on numerous levels. Our goal is to challenge perceptions, elicit empathy, and inspire action through an immersive art installation, almost like a performance with interactive displays. By focusing attention on the pressing concerns of housing instability and homelessness, we hope to spark a communal reaction based on compassion and solidarity.

As our project progresses, it becomes more than just a physical embodiment of refuge; it is a mirror that reflects the harsh truths of our society. It calls on landlords and legislators to face their disproportionate power and unbridled greed, which fuel the cycle of homelessness and housing instability. Through strategic collaboration and grassroots activism, “……..” seeks to dismantle oppressive structures and advocate for housing justice. Let us work together to create a world in which the basic human need for shelter takes precedence over business, housing is a right rather than a privilege and compassion wins over greed.

In our ambitious plan, we seek to place the ‘house’ squarely in front of letting agencies, shining a harsh light on their involvement in increasing the housing crisis. Together, we aim to curate intriguing publications that will not only decorate the interior of the tiny house, but will also end up in the hands of landlords. These publications will include candid interviews with the public, offering an unfiltered platform for voices that are frequently repressed by the power dynamics of the housing industry.

We hope to fulfil two important goals with these publications. First, we want to educate letting agencies and landlords about the common perception that their tactics are exploitative and ethically flawed. We hope to remove the veil of apathy that frequently surrounds people in positions of power by highlighting the genuine and uncensored thoughts of those affected by the housing crisis.

Secondly, we want to influence landlords’ perspectives, asking them to abandon their sense of entitlement and address the terrible reality that many people ensure when trying to find stable homing. Through genuine testimonials and captivating storytelling, we hope to persuade landlords to reconsider their priorities, asking them to prioritise tenant well-being over profit margins.

Finally, our project seeks to catalyse genuine change in the housing business by cultivating a culture of accountability, empathy, and social responsibility. By presenting letting agencies and landlords with the unvarnished truths about the housing crisis, we hope to spark a collective call to action, motivating stakeholders to actively participate in deconstructing oppressive structures and championing housing for all. The project represents a bold and innovative approach to addressing the housing crisis through art, activism, and community engagement. By challenging societal norms, confronting biases, and advocating for systemic change, we aim to build a more equitable and compassionate society where everyone has a place to call home.

2.        Placement Strategy: Strategically positioning the secure in highly visible areas throughout the city, such as parks, public squares, and busy streets. Additionally, placing the house outside estate agent offices as a form of protest, challenging the complicity of the real estate industry in perpetuating the housing crisis.

3.        Publication and Distribution: Produce a publication that accompanies the house, detailing the projects objectives, the stories of individuals affected by homelessness, and information on how the community can get involved. Distribute this publication both inside the house itself, for visitors to explore and learn from, and via mail to landlords and key stakeholders, urging them to reflect on their role in addressing housing inequality.
