In the beginning I was a little confused because the perspectives changed a few times and it wasn’t always immediately clear who it is about but you’ll get there. Overall I liked the story because it was really sweet but also kind of sad because you also see the impact of diseases in old age such as dementia. You can only see the impact slightly but it’s pretty good to imagine, how painful this probably is. What I liked most was that you get some insight of a nice memory from two characters. If you look for something easy to read and about the importance of family and heritage, I would recommend this story. It may make you appreciate small things more.

The way the story is told was very interesting for me, because the perspectives got changed a lot of times and without warnings. It was definitely new and supported the plot by making it more interesting and understanding their common background with each other.
All in all I'd say that I liked the short story, because it shows that happiness isn't build on where you live or where you from and is more about what you did there. It definitely makes you think about appreciating the little things, which create more and more a big thing in your life.
(in this case: the relationship between mother and child)

I personally liked the short story because it gives you an insight into the different generation of an immigrant family and how something as simple as a Red Bean Ice can function as a bridge between the cultural gap of generations. To be honest, the changing perspective confused me a bit at the beginning but after a while I understood what’s happening. Moreover, I liked that the story wasn’t predictable. Even though it wasn’t the most thrilling story I’ve read in my life it has a deep meaning about the importance of family and heritage. All in all, I think the story was well written, so I would recommend it.

The design is kept rather simple but we could imagine this to be the actual bookcover as you would see it in the bookstore. The picture in the background shows Vancouver's Chinatown where the story takes place. The title of the book and the author's name should be self-explanatory. We chose a clear and thick font so that it stood out against the background. The big red dot is only there for decoration purposes.
