There is a special needs student in my class who, since Sec 1, doesn't speak much (speech and hearing impairment) even when bullied or had doubts about learning. This year, not only does he voluntarily come to me when he need help, he takes the initiative to be helpful in class. During PTM, the mother of the student told me she is very glad her son met me and my co-form and it made me so euphoric to be accepted by the boy and that his family have heard him speak about us.

I always joke that I am performing on a world tour in SGH. This year, the dept of ophthalmology threw me to the dept of neurology when they could not find out what is the matter with me after my MRI. I am the personification of the Chinese phrase 视而不见 because I have been walking into things even though I see them but my brain doesn't register their presence in my path. I have scared my class a few times when I walked backwards into the edge of the whiteboard and had to sit down in pain. Hopefully all this will pass soon.

One Takeaway

Min Chan mentioned Creators and PEO. We have always made decisions for our students to participate in a select few programmes. With the establishment of PEO, I am wondering if perhaps we can partner Lianhe Zaobao or some other suitable organisations to arrange for LJs and workshops like APLMs (e.g. for MT Fortnight) so that students can take ownership of their learning, as well as explore the aspect of MTL that interests them?

When considered in the context of QTSS MTL Department, perhaps we need to identify an application of technology that all of us can do and are doing. Our goal in 2024 would be to execute (use) this technology well, ideally throughout the year. Then as a team, we will be in the position to evaluate whether we made progress for ourselves and for our students. That would be our shot at giving our students a taste of success down the road of being a creator, a connector and a contributor.

Graduated as CM of Sec 4 Exc feeling loved by some of them when they PM me to say their appreciation and show their gratitude on their last day of school.
