The first example of this is in the lines "She be doing things like having them boys come from her neighborhood/To the studio trying to fight me." This uses ethos by showing what type of person the mother in this story is. She is portrayed as someone who wants to get revenge on André for impregnating her daughter. Other lines that give background on the mother are "She wanna rib you up to start a custody war, " and "She had fish fries and cookouts for my child's birthday I ain't invited." These all show Ms Jackson as a person who hates André and will do anything to keep him away from his child. 

The second example of ethos is located in the lines "Ms. Jackson my intentions were good, I wish I could/ Become a magician to abracadabra all the sadder." These lines describe André as someone who is genuinely sorry for what happened. He also wishes he could take back what he did with Erykah. André also mentions how he is becoming more responsible and is getting his life together in the lines "And yes I will be present on the first day of school/ And graduation," and "Private school, daycare, shit, medical bills I'll pay that." André says this to show his genuine feelings toward the situation and how he wants to make up for it. André feels true sorrow for what he did to Erykah.

 While sadness is the main emotion portrayed in this song, there is another emotion displayed. Big Boi's last verse in this song is more angry than the other verses, with lines like "You see, your little nosy-ass homegirls/ Done got your ass sent up the creek, G," and "Let bygones be bygones, you can go on and get the hell on/ You and your mama. This shows that Big Boi is not happy with his girlfriends mothers actions towards him and just wants her to get out.
