 Its appearance is very similar to most other sea turtles - flattened body shape, protective carapace and flipper-like limbs (suitable for open-ocean swimming).
The Eretmochelys imbricata is easily defined from other sea turtles due to its sharp, curved beak with a prominent edge, and the sharp appearance of its shell margins.
The shell of the Hawksbill Turtle slightly changes colour depending on the temperature of the water.
