Commanders exercise due diligence before closing a primary Dining Facility (DFAC) to ensure a reliable means to access food for Airmen and Guardians. This involves implementing a plan tailored to the specific mission requirements at each location, which may include placing members on Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) II to enhance meal options or temporarily relocating DFAC operations when feasible. Providing access to nutritious food, whether through on-base dining facilities or compensation for food purchases, is crucial for maintaining the quality of life for Airmen and Guardians.
