The children's classmate and neighbor, 11-year-old Maverik Lowe, was also hit by the truck and suffered multiple broken bones. He will make a second appearance in court next month. Passenger was flying from Los Angeles to Sydney when he tried to get into the cockpit. When he was refused, he proceeded to assault one of the flight attendants. He was then restrained for the remainder of the flight. When the plane landed in Sydney, he was arrested.

She also hit an 11 year old boy that was their neighbor who suffers critical injuries, but is still living. Nancy Abel from Washington was an expert hiker who was going to turn back, and attempted to stop Katherine from going on due to harsh weather conditions but she refused. Nancy eventually dropped back and left Katherine on her own. A few days later, Nancy became worried and called the sheriffs office and they got a search crew.
