This article is about how the UN is planning to pay roughly $200 million in compensation for the huge cholera outbreak in Haiti. The UN is finally accepting responsibility that the source of the massive cholera outbreak was the UN troops. The outbreak has sickened nearly 800,000 people and killed more than 9,000 people. The plan is that most of the people and their families who were greatly effected will receive a direct payment from the UN.  This shows development. The UN wants to help Haiti continue to develop. The UN is giving Haiti all of this money to help cure the spread. This is helping  improve health care in Haiti.

This article is about the United Nation's public apology for its role  in the 2010 cholera outbreak in Haiti and the widespread suffering of the 10,000 citizens who had gotten infected over the past six years. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon of South Korea delivered the acknowledgement of the error before the General Assembly. The disease started when United Nations peace keepers came from Nepal. The peace keepers lived in a base that often leaked waste into a river, and the first people who were affected lived nearby. Scientists had argued that the river was the source of the outbreak, but for years the United Nations refused to accept it and take responsibility. To fix Haiti's water and sanitation system and treat the cholera, the United Nations had to raise 200 million dollars.
