I'm Liz, your course facilitator. My baking experiences began long ago, with an easy-bake oven and a mom who allowed us to make her kitchen messier by being in it all the time. My mom also introduced me to the formal baking world by signing me up (without my permission) for a couple of baking categories in the county fair. My first trial run for the whole-breads category produced a story my family does not let me live down to this day. It involves an overdose of yeast and bread dough that would not stop growing. My second category of competition yielded better results as my apple pecan upside down pie made it to the state fair level. I think I have always enjoyed baking, probably because I enjoy eating. I am looking forward to seeing what you all produce throughout this course. Baking can be an endless source of creativity and enjoyment, and I love seeing new ideas in students' projects!
