There are many serious injustices being done right now to the Rohingya tribe in Myanmar. One example is how the Rohingya were forcefully removed from their country. The Rohingya is a small tribe in the eastern part of Myanmar (Burma) called the Rakhine State. The Rohingya are currently being forcefully removed from their homes into other countries. One of the biggest injustices is that the Myanmar government is not helping the Rohingya. The government also does not recognize the Rohingya as official people of Myanmar. Another injustice being done to the Rohingya is the Myanmar people are killing the Rohingya that do not leave. At this moment over 500,000 Rohingya have been killed by the Myanmarese. The Rohingya are also killed because of the multiple riots the Myanmarese have had in the Rakhine State. These are just some of the many problems with the Rohingya Genocide.

There are many problems with the removal of the Rohingya. One of the biggest problems with the genocide is that the government has not officially recognized the Rohingya as people of Myanmar. The government refuses to recognize them as official citizens because they believe the Rohingya has illegally come to Myanmar from neighboring Bangladesh. Since they have not been officially recognized the government has refused to help them so the problem has not had a resolution. Another problem that has caused this problem in Myanmar is that there has been a lot of fighting between the Rohingya Muslims and Myanmar Buddhists. Myanmar says the Rohingya assaulted police officers and women so they have the right to riot against them. Myanmar also has excuses for what they have done. The government says that the Rohingya have burned their own villages and the Myanmarese have not done anything. Those are just some of the root causes of the conflict in Myanmar.

The Rohingya genocide has affected the Myanmar community but it has also affected the countries around Myanmar. A lot of the Rakhine State is badly damaged because of the riots against the Rohingya. The riots have burned down houses and towns completely. It has also left many people homeless through the country. It is also a problem that has affected the countries around Myanmar. It has affected the countries of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia because of the refugees fleeing from Myanmar. The Rohingya are fleeing for their lives because if they don’t leave they are arrested or killed. At this moment over 800,000 have fled their homes in Myanmar. Most of the refugees went to either Bangladesh of Pakistan because those are the two countries that have allowed them to come in. The conflict in Myanmar is a huge problem inside Myanmar but it has had a bigger effect on the countries neighboring Myanmar.

What You Can Do

The current situation in Myanmar is a genocide and people have to help in some way. The U.N., Red Cross, and other organizations like that have increased aid to Myanmar by sending money to the people in Myanmar that are helping the Rohingya. Other countries have also tried to assist the Rohingya by telling the Myanmar government to help by imposing curfews and other laws to help the Rohingya. Countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan have also helped by allowing refugees that have fled coming into their countries. Like those organizations and countries, you can also help. There are many different ways to help the Rohingya. The easiest way to help is to donate, money, food, and other materials to the organizations that are currently helping the Rohingya. If you donate you can help find a way to resolve the conflict that is currently happening in Myanmar.

Comparison With the Holocaust

The Rohingya genocide and the Holocaust have many similarities between the two genocides. One of the main similarities was that both of the countries committing genocide were doing it because of their religion. In the Holocaust, it was the mass murder of Jews and in the Rohingya genocide, it is the murder of Muslims. Another similarity between the two genocides is that they were both not given much attention to in the beginning. In the Holocaust, not much information was known about the serious injustices were happening until the very end of the war. In the Rohingya genocide, it is much of the same because not much was known until a journalist went there to see the destruction first hand.

Between the two genocides, there were also a lot of differences. One of the main differences was that in the Holocaust the government of Germany were the ones that were committing the act of genocide but in the Rohingya genocide, it is the people of Myanmar. In the Holocaust, the Nazi party took over in Germany and started the mass murder of all the Jews. In the Rohingya genocide, the government has not committed the acts but they have not done anything to help the Rohingya. Another big difference between the two is the Holocaust was all across Europe but the Rohingya is just in Myanmar. For the Holocaust Hitler killed every single jew he could get his hands on in Germany. On the other hand, the Rohingya genocide is only being done to the Rohingya tribe of Myanmar. Out of the many differences between the two genocides, these are the two biggest ones.

Why the World Needs to Know

The rest of the world needs to be concerned with the current events in Myanmar because of the many serious injustices. One of the biggest reasons people should be concerned is because these ruthless murders and riots are very similar to the Holocaust. The Holocaust was an awful thing during World War II and it should not be repeated ever again. The world also should be concerned because the Rohingya cannot defend themselves and they need someone to defend them. Currently, no one has stood up to stop the Myanmar people that are killing and forcing the Rohingya to leave. Without the help of other countries, the Rohingya will be wrongfully forced out of their own country. The world needs to know about these wrongdoings that are happening to the Rohingya.
