A large Roman salting factory was unearthed under the old Andalucia Theatre in 1995 and part of the factory has been kept intact in the basement of the new building.
This factory was built on the banks of one of the arms of the old Bay-Caleta channel and ran until the start of the 4th century A.D. It was laid out around a large courtyard, under which there was a cistern, where the "graffiti" of the lighthouse were located and which are now kept in the Museum of Cadiz. The preserved area is a sector of different sized basins, which as was common at the time, were covered with hydraulic concrete, with reinforced corners to avoid filtrations and a central dip to clean them.

Veleia was a Roman town in Hispania, now located in the Basque Country, Spain. The site is located in the municipality of Iruña de Oca, 10 kilometers west of Vitoria. The town was an important station on the Roman road ab Asturica Burdigalam that ran parallel to the coast of the Bay of Biscay. At its apogee, the city could have been inhabited by some five to ten thousand people,[citation needed] and apparently went through different cycles of prosperity and decline into the Early Middle Ages until it was finally abandoned.

Ancient Roman road Pisoraca-Flaviobriga

Originated in the Roman military camp of Pisoraca (the current Herrera de Pisuerga, in Palencia) it linked the Mena Valley and the Cantabrian town of Castro-Urdiales (the ancient Roman Flaviobriga), which at that time was the only Roman colony in the entire Cantabrian cornice. It seems that from this Roman road there was a secondary branch that looked for another exit to the sea and, following the course of the Cadagua, it connected with the Nervión-Ibaizabal estuary.
