Corruption back in the progressive era is very similar to corruption in the modern day US. Corruption in the progressive era would involve bribery to support a certain party in the electoral vote. Those certain organizations were called "Political Machines." When it comes to doing dirty work, politicians would break rules to win the election. The bosses of these organizations would give bribes like money or jobs to those who supported their agenda. The most known Political Machine was Tammany Hall in New York City. It was under power by William M Tweed. He stole large amounts of money from the city.

Solutions that they created to attempt to stop corruption included the Direct Primary. Which, once again, allowed voters to choose candidates for the parties who ran in the election. They also created three new government reforms. One was initiatives that allowed voters to propose laws. Another was referendums that allowed citizens to vote on the proposed laws and then recalls which allowed people to vote a government official out of office. With these solutions, it created a strong and suitable solution against corruption.

Just like in the progressive era, bribery is a major problem when it comes to corruption now. After Trump's election into office, he has methodically and meticulously purged the department of justice, putting a hold on all foreign corruption cases. He then went on to fire more than a dozen federal agencies and gutted federal ability to fight public corruption. As you can probably see from these few examples, corruption is at an all time high, creating a major issue. Also under Trump's wishes, the Justice Department stepped back its efforts to enforce its anti-corruption plans as well as removed the foreign corruption practices app which bans bribery between two large companies. Essentially enhancing the practice known as political machines which was popular in the progressive era.

Current solutions which help fight against corruption in the country include,

Keeping the public sector honest which entails upholding ethical standards, promoting accountability, and ensuring transparency and,

Strengthen regimes to prevent corruption and bring corrupt actors to justice.

These solutions have not proved to be fool proof on accountability that corruption with foreign bribes is still a major issue. As well as the hold in the federals ability to fight back public corruption due to trump's commands. Though, these solutions are much more efficient than back in the progressive era. There is also more access to more variety of solutions.

This can be seen as a negative trait in Corruption because America revolves around economics and investment.
