A Little About Myself

Hi! I'm Anushka Mishra a student of B.Com Honours at UPES.
Inherently I'm from Ambikapur a city in the state of Chhattisgarh. I live there with my sweet family; My Parents, a Younger Brother, an Elder Sister, and My Grandma. I've completed my 10+2 from Holy cross convent sr. sec. school, Ambikapur.
I'm certified in Kathak, I'm also a big foodie, therefore, I like to cook as well! I LOVE traveling, I like painting 🎨 too.

My strengths are I'm enthusiastic, optimistic, confident and, a trustworthy person.
Some of my weaknesses are I'm a very sensitive person I get emotional real quick. I'm not so very good at hiding my emotions and do not have any control over them. My other weakness is that I don't get satisfied with things that easily I'm very choosy and that bothers people.

A thing not to be missed about me is that I'm a cynophile. I love dogs. "I think dogs are the most amazing creature; they give unconditional love. For me they're the role model for being alive."

I have been part of this wonderful course called 'Leadership & teamwork' headed by Mrs Pooja khanna. The journey has been nothing short of fruitful and enlightening and this is an interactive collection of all my learning takeaways from this course!

PERSONAL STATEMENT ON LEADERSHIP

My leadership style is fairly simple. I do my best to include everyone possible in a group atmosphere so that people want to contribute meaningful input. I do this through my key qualities, which are trustworthiness, honesty, confidence, and most import, my determined mindset. I am very ambitious when leading a group and resort to my favorite quote any time I start to have doubt to remind myself that excuses are not an option. The quote is, “If it’s important, you’ll find a way. If it’s not, you’ll find an excuse.”

I say Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence. Leadership is not wielding authority, bullying and leadership is not aggression . Leadership is the expectation that you can use your voice for good, to empower others. That you can make the world a better place.

Qualities that a leader must have according to me would be;

Good communication skills: A boss/leader must be clear in what they say so that people don't have to read between the lines or try to guess their real meaning.
Inspiration: A leader creates a vivid and compelling vision of the future and motivates others to want to achieve it.
Flexibility: Leaders need to be flexible, whatever last-minute changes or mishaps come their way.
Mentoring: A good leader pulls the best out of their people. They inspire, guide and lean into people's strengths , and when they're ready for new challenges, they gladly send them on their way.

The most powerful leadership tool you have is your own personal example. Be the change you want to create, show and model the way, demonstrate commitment to the vision. Learn from a mistake and keep a positive attitude.

Subtitle- "Leaders become great not because of their power, but their ability to empower others".

I get better results when I take part in a team project. Work is done faster when I do a team project. Teamwork helps me to learn new things. When I work in a team my ability to work effectively is increased. Teamwork is more satisfactory to me than individual work. One team member, as a leader, assigned work for other persons. One team member, as a leader, monitored the work of other persons. One team member, as a leader, motivated others to work harder. One team member, as a leader, cared for the right atmosphere which was conducive to teamwork. Each team member has done the same amount of work. A few team members have done most of the project work. The team had a clearly defined aim which they tried to achieve. Physical conditions favouring teamwork are created at the university. The approach of lecturers to team projects encourages joint work in teams. The atmosphere at the university among students favours the completion.

The thing I don’t like about team projects that, there are always persons who do not want to get involved and that sometimes makes us think, if I want to do something well, I have to do it myself. In the long run I can count on myself only. I prefer to be evaluated individually rather than as a team. In the case of the perceived effectiveness of teamwork, the atmosphere in which a team project is conducted at the university and identification of a person acting as the leader of the project team are important.

Defining Leadership:
Leadership skills are important. There is no exact definition for what a leader does. Each leader's style of leadership is influenced by the personality and the challenges that they face.

As a leader, you need to be able to clearly and succinctly explain to your employees everything from organizational goals to specific tasks.
Leaders need to inspire their workers.

A positive attitude can go a long way in an office.

My uncle is a police officer recently he was awarded by the state of government for catching a murderer. He was the leader of the whole mission. He gave me a nice and brief knowledge about leadership qualities, I learned a lot from him.

Leadership is the ability of an individual influence and guide followers.

Leadership involves making sound- and sometimes difficult-- decisions, creating and a clear vision, establishing achievable goals, and providing followers with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve those goals.

Topic- "ARE LEADERS BORN OR MADE?"

1. Why did my team choose a particular topic?

Ans. The motivation behind choosing the topic “Are leaders born or made?” was simply that some believe true leaders are born that way—naturally charismatic, influential, and inspiring individuals who are destined to make a mark. But while certain people may be naturally predisposed to leadership, just as they’re naturally predisposed to athleticism or musicality, we believe it’s absolutely possible to cultivate the characteristics and skills necessary to call yourself a leader. “Leaders aren’t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work.

2. How did we plan and prepare to execute the project topic?
Ans.

We planned and prepared to execute the project topic by setting the right expectations, we discussed all of the visual peculiarities of the deliverables, other important aspects.
We gained an in-depth explanation regarding what the team is trying to achieve.
Set the time for recurrent meetings.
Transparent conversation regarding the issues that we as a team of individuals had to confront.
Separated the work into logical, equal parts which implied to be manageable.
Proper communication, project management, and dealing with potential risks well before they arise.

3. How does it connect with our course ’Leadership and teamwork’?

Ans. People inherit certain qualities and traits that make them better suited to leadership.

To suggest that leaders do not enter the world with extraordinary endowment is to imply that people enter the world with equal abilities, with equal talents.”

There are certain inborn characteristics that predispose people to be and become leaders. There is a significant difference between “learning a skill” and mastering one, in the same way that others are born with amazing musical gifts or athletic talents. They will excel naturally in these areas but others would be like a fish out of water and may struggle to get to the same point.

Born (natural) Leaders are different to made (artificial leaders). All remarkable leaders have great history behind them. They were leaders from the onset of their journey.

If leaders were solely born what is the point of the rest of us studying leadership or management?

Birth is a natural process and the notion to associate leadership with it is arguable.

Leadership is a set of skills that can be learned by training, perception, practice and experience over time. Leadership learning is lifetime activity. Leadership can be learned by anyone with the basics. But an awful lot of leadership cannot be taught. Some do well but others find themselves poorly equipped rendering mediocre results.

4. In what capacity did I help/support/contribute to the team project?

Ans. Communication: Talked openly and honestly with your group members about expectations, deadlines, and responsibilities.

Time management:Strong organizational skills in order to set manageable goals for my team and keep others on track to meet their deadlines.

Problem-solving: Solved problems, thought outside the box when challenges or issues arise. Rather than focusing on negative outcomes, stayed calm and helped team work towards a solution.

Listening: kept an open mind. Recognized that our team members may see things from another perspective, and hear them out. Listening to other points of view.

Critical thinking: Critical thinking allows you to make better, more informed decisions. So followed along with whatever the group decided, or what one team member believed, but sometimes a different approach or a new idea helped achieve better results. By thinking critically about the situation – examining all sides of an issue, reflecting on past experiences, and listening to what other group members have to say.

Collaboration: Working in a team is challenging at times, but more often it is a great opportunity to uncover creative ideas, share different perspectives and experiences, as well as enhance our own skills. I treated each group project as a learning experience.

Leadership: A leader who worked well with others.

5. What are my leadership and teamwork lessons from this?
Ans. There were a number of lessons that came out of the process.

Lesson One - There will always be problems. Having a predetermined approach to dealing with issues is a significant help in addressing and working through problems.

Lesson Two - Teamwork is work. Obviously doing the project related aspects were work, but managing the dynamics of the team itself is also work - and it is often harder than task work. Our team realized and collectively decided that it was imperative to devote time and energy to resolve any conflict as soon as it was identified.

Lesson Three - The team isn’t working if the team isn’t working. The team dynamic has to be a priority to sustain healthy and productive relationships. The more our team members valued membership in the team, the more motivated they were to perform. Addressing the need for increased sense of commitment and attraction to a team allowed us to learn how to enhance our group cohesion. This led to every team member performing at their best.

Lesson Four - Pay attention to each other. The biggest mistake teams can make is to just dive into the work without establishing or nurturing relationships.

Lesson Five - People are more important than projects. Life presents the unexpected and sometimes taking the time to be there for each other and listen to each other is more important that the original agenda. Of course, we want to be as productive as possible, but one of the most valuable times for our groups was at the beginning of each meeting when we would go around and check in on everyone. When you are working within a remote group, you don’t always have the ability to see or hear what may be going on and until you have that face to face meeting, you don’t always know what that individual is going through (good or bad).
