Juliet feels that her parents will not allow her to be with Romeo, causing her to feel that the only way for them to be together is if she lied about it to her parents. Tomorrow night look that thou lie alone: Let not the nurse lie with thee in thy chanmer. Take thou this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run Shall keep his native progress, but surcease; No warmth, o breath, shall testify thou livest; The roses in thy lips and cheeks shall fade To paly ashes, thy eyes' windows fall Like death when he shuts up the day of life; Each part, deprived of supple government, Shall, stiff and stark and cold, appear like death; And in this borrowed likeness of shrunk death Thou shalt continue two-and-forty hours,And then awke as from a pleasant sleep. Now, when the bridegroom in the morning comes To rouse thee from thy bed, there art thou dead. Then, as the manner of our country is, In thy best robes uncovered on the bier Thou shalt be borne to that same ancient vault Where all the kindred of the Capulets lie. In the meantime, against thou shalt awake, Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift; And hither shall he come; and he and I Will watch thy waking, and that very night Shall Romeo bear thee hence to Mantua. And this shall free thee from this present shame, If no inconstant toy nor womanish fear Abate thy valor in the acting it."(4.1.89)

Romeo becomes banished from the city for killing Tybalt. Juliet is desperate to be with him and is depressed because they are apart. Her parents think that she is mourning the death of her cousin. They think that the best way to get Juliet to be happy is to have her marry Paris. Because Juliet is already love with and married to Romeo, she does not want to marry Paris. She decides that the best solution to that problem is to fake her death and run away to be with Romeo. Juliets family gets upset when they think that Juliet is dead. Her mother says "Accursed, unhappy, wretched, hateful day! Most miserable hour that e'er time saw In lasting labor of his pilrimage! But one, poor one, one poor and loving child, But one thing to rejoice and solace in, And cruel Death hath catched it from my sight!" (4.5.43). Not only was her family upset by the news of her death, but also Romeo, who came to her grave and killed himself. When Juliet woke up from her death like sleep, she found Romeo dead. Being upset by the sight of her dead husband, Juliet killed herself for real.

The song Razzle Dazzle is from the musical Chicago. Chicago is about a girl named Roxie who killed a man. She is trying to get away with murder and has to convince the court that she should not go to jail. During this song her lawyer is telling her how to lie to the court so she will get off the hook. This song is similar to the part in Romeo and Juliet where Friar Laurence is telling Juliet about his plan to give her a potion so her family will think that she is dead. In both the song and the play, the girls have to deceive the other people so that they can get what they want.

Throughout the play Juliets emotions change dramatically, causing her actions to change because of it. In the beginning she would do what would make her parents happy, but after falling in love with Romeo, she started to do what would make herself happy, and eventually becoming manipulative so she would get what she wanted. The audience should take away from this that doing what you want can hurt others and that all decisions should be carefully thought through.
