The Normandy Beaches
Operation Overlord, or better known as D-Day took place on June 6th, 1944. On the Tuesday, British, Canadian and American forces stormed the Beaches of Normandy as a steeping stone to take over Nazi occupied France. It remains the largest seaborne invasion to this day. This is a hard adventure as these beaches cover extreme distances of France. The cost for this experience is 5 euros/beach and 10 euros for the museum.

Amiens Cathedral
The Amiens cathedral is the tallest complete cathedral in France. It's renowned for the quality and quantity of early 13th-century Gothic sculpture in the main west façade and the south portal, and a large quantity of poly chrome sculpture from later periods inside the building. This is a soft adventure. The entrance fee is 6 euros.

The Dieppe Beaches
Operation Rutter, also known as the Dieppe Raid took place on August 19th, 1942. The purpose of the attack was to retake the Nazi occupied port that opened into the French channel. This is a hard adventure.

Amiens (The Battle of the Somme)
The battle of the Somme was a long battle fought from July 1st - November 18th, 1916. The main significance of this battle was that it was the first time the world has ever seen tank on tank engagements. This is a hard adventure.

Rouen Cathedral
The cathedral has a strong musical tradition since the Middle Ages. Its choir was famous up to the French Revolution for singing from memory. It contains a tomb of Richard the Lionheart which contained his heart. This is a soft adventure.

The Dunkirk Beaches
The battle for Dunkirk was fought from May 26th to June 4th, 1940. This battle became famous for the phrase "Fight back to the west" as British and French troops were ordered to abandon the Eastern Line and told to fallback to Dunkirk. This is a hard adventure as Dunkirk covers extreme distances.

Vimy Ridge
The battle of Vimy Ridge took place April 9th - 12th 1917. The thing that made Vimy Ridge so famous was the battle tactic used called the creeping barrage, also known as the Vimy Glide. Visiting Vimy Ridge is a soft adventure.

Photo: Normandy Beaches, France
