As stated above, the bumpiness beginning came in the form of Le Ly being yet again molested, this time by Thai, the son of the people taking care of Le Ly and her mother. 
Thai takes Le Ly out on a date but Thai tries to fondle with Le Ly and she rejects him. Le Ly makes her way to find Anh in the familiar but unfamiliar place; "It is amusing to hear this part functionary still refer to Saigon as Saigon."
