The eradication of varying infectious diseases is important to protect the health of all populations. Although eradication can take decades of work, through the implementation of vaccinations and other public health efforts, eradication is possible. Globalization and urbanization have made diseases like HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 more rapidly spread, but improved technology and epidemiological modeling can be used to prevent disease.

This article suggests that disease eradication is the holy grail for health officials. However, eradication can be hard to conceptualize. This article provides a checklist for disease eradication, some of them includes: is the disease easily diagnosable or recognizable?; is there a non-human reservoir or vector?; is the disease geographically restricted?; and is there a vaccine?. It is important to pinpoint these factors so that the eradication of disease would be possible.

In order to prevent disease, it is important to understand measles transmission pathway to humans. Measles is transmitted through air and is very contagious, which results in high transmission rates. Prevention effort that made possible by public health officials would be through measles vaccination. Some challenges posed by the eradication of measles: vaccine efficiency, need for new vaccination programs to distribute the vaccine, and poor measles surveillance systems.

It would groups of children younger than 5 years of age, adults older than 20 years old, pregnant women, and people with compromised immune systems. Almost everyone can be affected by this disease and it is crucial to know that there is an answer to this problem. The effective way to prevent from measles would be through vaccination.

This article depicts the effectiveness of preventative measures of the measles vaccination program implemented globally. They have concluded that over the last few decades of immunizations, controls, and preventative factors have contributed to the reported 99% decline in the number of measles cases and 73% in deaths. I strongly agree that some of the ways that can help eradicate the measles disease would be increasing community access to and demand for immunizations, strengthening partnerships for public health infrastructure, and implementing more interventions to increase vaccine confidence.

This image addresses the concern regarding the measles disease. It illustrates that international travel can be a factor in distributing the disease to the human population. It is very imperative to get vaccinated to prevent measles from happening. Not only that, but global coordination and tracking of disease outbreaks requires on an international level. Without political support, global health campaigns cannot hope to success. Without economic support, crucial resources cannot be mobilized effectively.
