It was 500 - 422 but now it is 499 - 422 and that equals 77 but you add the one later so it is 78. And now here is my explanation. I thin compensation is not a good strategy I think it is a amazing strategy because it is hard to do 0 minus a bigger number you take one away so then you can subtract but you add the 1 later so then you add and get the answer. THE ANSWER IS 78! I am the first person to answer! YAY See you on Monday it is Friday!

Nine minus two is seven and you do the same thing in the tens place. Then, you go to the hundreds place and do four minus four and you get 0. Right now we have 77 but, you have to add that one into the ones place when doing compensation. You got the number 78❗️❗❗️❗

9-2=7 so you put that in the ones place. You also do 90-20=70 for the tens place. Then, you have to subtract the 400-400 and that = 0. You still have the 70 and the 7 so you need to + and 70+7 is 77. We can not forget that 1that we - so let's add it back and 77+1=78‼️
