We do believe the trajectory is trending upward. Additional support for all staff on how to best support our subgroup populations would support continued positive movement. With increased face to face support, students will feel a greater sense of connection, belonging and safety not only while at school but also at home.

Increased student support over the course of the next five years will yield healthier social skills in students and their ability to talk about their feelings, frustrations and self regulation.

In 5 years, schools could have a targeted plan for every child who needs Tier 2 support for SEL/behavior. Students would feel a greater sense of connection and positive relationships with the entire school community.

Students will be able to self regulate and express their emotions. Students will have a greater sense of belonging due to a mindset change for both students and staff.

As we continue to learn more and do better our schools will look so different. I believe SEL will be taught just like reading, writing, math, etc...This impact will allow majority of our students to be socially and emotionally regulated.

In 5 years with increased face-to-face student support students would feel more connected to the campus and have a trusted adult that they can go to. Students would learn the skills needed to self-monitor and self-regulate.

We are becoming more responsive and that is what is needed. Unfortunately, demand has increased and stretches the new capacity that is being built.

The trend will be in a positive direction as counselors will be able to devote a significant amount of time to students. I also believe not only will students be impacted positively but families as well. Students will also be able to develop deeper and more meaningful relationships with their counselor.

I think we are TRULY working serving the whole child with the new initiatives.

If we move to a 1:250 ratio, I can truly see the counseling department have more time to know all of the students on their caseload by name and need and increase direct services to the ratios suggested by ASCA.

Five Years from Now:
Our students will have greater self-awareness and knowledge of the resources available in life to meet career readiness/successful relationships and practice self-care.

Student will have a bank of strategies and resources to use to support self-regulation and the ability to overcome challenges. They will be able to advocate for themselves and recognize their impact on both themselves and those around them.
