Chase Atlantic has heavily influenced me in my music style and taste through their lyrical choices in terms of being able to create cohesive and catchy lyrics, while putting meaning into their songs without being too vulgar in the actual lyrics.

Their production techniques that they pride themselves on including the way they start with making the instrumentals first then that inspiring the lyrics and melody have also inspired me to experiment with trying the same thing.

Their use of the electric guitar and bass as the main instrumental elements of their songs have grown my love for those instruments and have shown me that they can be used differently to create a certain atmosphere that, before discovering their music, I didn't really think was possible.

What initially drew me to Yungblud's music was hearing his '21st Century Liability' album that explores his internal struggles and some of his traumas throughout his life. His ability to put his past traumas into musical lyrics with being able to evoke the emotions he wanted to portray really inspired me, and gave me to confidence to do the same with my own traumas. It also influenced me to express myself through my music and use it as a form of therapy as well.

The way he uses the punk/rock genre to create a unique sound, has been a significant factor in the creation of my style and preferences when it comes to creating my own music. His use of guitar in each of his songs has influenced me to experiment with guitar and want to use it in my songs due to the transcendent and emotional effect that the guitar has in his music.

Yungblud's use of simple broken drum beats have generated my love of a subtle consistent drum beat to compliment the rest of the elements of the song instead of the drums taking over like a lot of music artists nowadays do.

In an interview with 1883 magazine, Chase Atlantic explained that The 1975 was very influential on their music early on. The songs 'Angeline' and 'Uncomfortable' by Chase Atlantic have very similar elements to songs by The 1975 in terms of their composition and use of guitar and synth elements to create a very similar feeling to the character of each song. This is evident to show their inspiration from The 1975 in their early music before truly developing their own unique sound.

In an interview with 1883 magazine, Chase Atlantic explained that The Neighbourhood was very influential on their music early on and helped them develop their sound. Similarly to The 1975's influence on Chase Atlantic, The Neighbourhood has influenced Chase Atlantic's style and production methods from their early days of making music which adversely helped them have the tools in which to create their unique style. The Neighbourhood's influence on Chase Atlantic is very evident in their similar style and usage of drums and band-style guitar. Both The Neighbourhood and Chase Atlantic make similar use of complimentary ambient and atmospheric instrumentals to create a sort of out-of-body experience in their sound. Chase Atlantic features the need to feel a 'high' with their music and this is very evidently inspired partially by The Neighbourhood and the same essence in their music.

Chase Atlantic has been inspired by the '80s and '90s exploits and drug scene in their lyrics and the vibe of their music. In an interview with Thomas Bleach in 2017 the band explained that when they make references to drugs in their music, it is used as a metaphor to refer to the dreamlike state and "left of reality" their music is. They also explained in another interview that their inspiration from the '80s and '90s cocaine exploits is an aesthetic inspiration for their sound and used as metaphorical for the vibe of that time. (Ehrlich, 2017) Ever since then, Yungblud has taken elements of The Beatles with him in his music, namely his use of the guitar in his songs are similar to that of The Beatles which is a testament to their inspiration on him as a young person.

Yungblud was very inspired by the Arctic Monkeys, especially 'Beneath the Boardwalk', which hit home for him as it showed him that songs don't have to just be about love but they can be stories and experiences. (Ehrlich, 2017) This was a clear turning point for Yungblud's unique sound to truly come out as he has been now renowned for telling stories in his music, enacting change and making a difference to the people, by saying they're not alone. Yungblud took what the Arctic Monkeys taught him about the ability to share experiences through music and ran with it and has made a name for himself as an artist who addresses societies problems as well as shared traumatic experiences and challenges the boundaries of musical lyricism every day.

In an interview that Yungblud did for Tidal Magazine, he said that Eminem was a big inspiration to him, especially his album "The Marshall Mathers LP". Yungblud stated that "to hear skits - an album not just full of music...changed my life" (Ehrlich, 2017). He goes on to explain in this interview that Eminem taught him a lot as a writer and to stand up for what he believes in and to not sit quietly, which Yungblud has taken into his stride and embraced the Anarchy of his music and standing up for the harsh truths of society in the 21st century.
