How Does One "Enthusiasm"?

Enthusiasm is a force in the heart of a person that drives them towards an objective, goal, idea, whatever it may be. Enthusiasm is the attitude of getting something accomplished with the passion and devotion behind it. Enthusiasm is the work ethic to get something done efficiently, and to actually care about it. We can see this in music all the time, whether is be high and loud vocals, a key change, heavy focus on percussion, however the artist may decide to display it. The one common and required element however, is the artist must be enthusiastic and passionate as well, or at least be very good at faking it.

It's the high and loud vocals that stimulate the feeling of "Wow! This person cares and will push through till they achieve their goal." Enthusiasm in music is when you stop and really notice the passion and drive, and get passionate yourself. It's when you can sense the passion behind the artist that you yourself get roped in willingly and push for that same goal, whatever it is. You almost lose yourself in it, you have a similar drive towards whatever it is the artist is passionate about without much reasoning or logic.

This element of enthusiasm can be seen in Bon Jovi's performance of "Livin' on a Prayer". The performance it's self sets the stage: extreme outfits, dancing around, fist pumping. However, you really hear it in the music. on the long, stretched "oh"s right before the chorus, his voice raises and he's almost screaming. He's pouring out his passion and enthusiasm in this build up to the chorus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDK9QqIzhwk

Enthusiasm, however, ins't just achieved by heavy and loud, but also by calm and relaxed. Jamie Grace's "The Happy Song" doesn't have you jumping up and down in a energetic and explosive way. She's just talking about having a really good day with emphasized drums and even a ukulele. The enthusiasm comes from the genuine in her voice and attitude. She's genuinely happy and she's gonna tell it. She's got a bright smile and dancing around some. you can hear the uplifting lightness in her voice and a sense of joy just rolling out of her. She's got such an amount of joy in her lyrics, the audience is engulfed by it and becomes the same. Enthusiastic and hopeful.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nabrmNTrBiU

Ed Sheeran's "Sing" gives a very similar affect with Jamie's. It's really almost a mixture of Jovi's power packed music to Grace's lightness.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlYcUqEPN58

I love it when you can see and feel the enthusiasm in the music. I love it when the artist cares, and it leads me to care. We are getting into a world of saddening music; "everything is useless" and "you have to fight for yourself because no one else will". I love to get away from this attitude and find some enthusiasm in music. It get's me up and hopeful, it reminds me that there's always a hope and a joy and a peace to be found. It reminds me that there's going to be a sun at the end of this rain cloud. Or, it get's me awake and energetic. It puts this sense of power in me. Something that tells me I can do it, and I will do it. I will accomplish my goal, I will see this through, I won"t be stopped. It's sort of a fantasy at times, but it's an escape for me. Almost a mental vacation.
