However, I would like to delve in deeper and to learn about the differences between the techniques and methods used, such as oil, watercolor, etc. (and if there is a superior technique among the rest). How to appreciate abstract paintings since I don't understand them at all. To learn if there are any new techniques developed in today's time? And who are the prominent figures (or masters) in modern painting? And lastly, how the (price) value of a painting is determined.

The masters during the Renaissance period and their significant contributions to the fine arts:
-    Leonardo Da Vinci invented and perfected perspective, the illusion of three-dimensional space. He placed a vanishing point within his paintings, the area wherein the object gets smaller. He also separated the painting  into three parts: the foreground, where it is highly texturized as well as where the warmer colors and darker values are placed, the middle ground, and lastly the background, where there are hazy textures and lighter values can be seen (this is because you rarely see warm colors in the horizon)
-    Raphael who creates depth which is very evident in one of his famous works, the Stanza Cycle. He not only paints on the walls but on the ceilings as well, which is why we get immersed in the painting.

In addition, I also learned about the masters in the Baroque period and their significant contributions to the fine arts:
- Rembrandt, in which he developed the element, value by using the form technique Chiaroscuro, involving the arrangement of lights and shadows. This technique is done in order to have a dramatic effect to emotionally engage the viewer
- If Rembrandt developed values, Caravaggio, on the other hand, arranges them. This can be clearly seen in the Supper at Emmaus, considered to be his best work, wherein he arranges the values elliptically. The lines seen in the gestures of the arms and hands in the painting engages the viewer to take part in the breaking of the bread.

How some portraits are done so beautifully it engages you and it pulls you in. I am familiar with a few types of paintings such as oil, watercolor, and acrylic. I also know that you can use different types of canvases to paint on, from paper to ceilings, to walls, and to glass. I did not know how to go in depth in critiquing a painting based on how the elements are used to convey a message or representation.
