Bei genauerer Betrachtung der Fotomontage werden vier grosse Themen deutlich: Militär bzw. Politik, Wissenschaft, Industrie und Revolution. Diese realen Themen werden ohne kausalen und logischen Zusammenhang dargestellt. Somit ist Hannah Höchs Mittel das Chaos, um ihrer Kritik an der damaligen Gesellschaft Ausdruck zu verleihen.

Man sieht auf dem Bild links eine art Taube mit dem Gesicht eines Menschen.  Das Gesicht hat etwas autoritäres und militärisches an sich, während die Taubenflügel eher frei und leicht wirken. Die Person rechts wirkt wie ein Kind mit einem merkwürdigen Gesichtsausdruck, das vor sich hin marschiert. Man fragt sich ob es im nächsten Moment den Abhang herunter fallen wird. Das Gesicht des Kindes ist zur Hälfte ein Affenkopf, was das Kind primitiv und ein wenig dümmlich wirken lässt. Die Hand wirkt zu groß und fehl am Platz. 
Der Hintergrund ist grau und trist und wirkt hoffnungslos. Die Zeit zwischen den Weltkriegen war eine unruhige Zeit. 
"In vielen Bildern von Höch spürt man so etwas wie Flucht, wird man mit Visionen von Untergang, Sturm und Einsamkeit konfrontiert, man ahnt die Einengung, die das Leben einer „entarteten" und politisch verdächtigen Künstlerin bestimmt"

Damit konnten alles darin enthaltenen Übel entweichen und die Menschen bedrohen. Während der Mann stocksteif auf einem Sockel steht, blickt die Braut mit dem übergroßen Kinderkopf verunsichert nach oben. Um das Paar herum sieht man eine geflügelte Dose der Pandora, ein Herz mit angekettetem Klotz, ein Baby, ein tränendes Auge und einige andere Objekte.
