Words in Spanish can also change their endings depending on whether or not the word is masculine or feminine. In English, we are never focused on that. We also don't change our form of a verb based on who we are talking to. We may try to sound more educated or sophisticated, but we don't use an entirely new form of the verb. Spanish, like English, has multiple words that can mean the same thing. Unlike homophones, however, in Spanish the situation, emotion, time period, etc. all impact which word you will need to use (ex: ser and estar). I have learned there are many differences between the languages, but these are the ones that I commonly experienced.  

To be completely honest, I didn't want to take a foreign language because it seemed incredibly difficult. Two levels of any foreign language are required to graduate at my school though. I decided to take Spanish because everyone said it was easy, I quickly learned that it was more difficult than I imagined. In Spanish II I learned so much more compared to Spanish I. I was able to write sentences myself and I wanted to continue to learn. I decided to pursue Spanish III in hopes of strengthening my Spanish knowledge. I was unmotivated when it came to longer writing assignments because of how long it would take me, but those are truly the assignments I feel helped me grow the most!

I haven't decided if I'm going to take Spanish IV, but if I do I would want to learn more about the subjunctive and the future and conditional tenses. I struggled with the subjunctive at first, but after I got the hang of it I enjoyed using it on my assignments. I would like to learn about how to use it for past tense. I have assumed so far that you simply apply the same rules to the preterite or imperfect form of the verb you used. The future and conditional tenses were also topics that took me longer to grasp. It was a way for me to really see how to use the information we were learning. I also ALWAYS found the announcements helpful, they gave reminders, tips for our work/projects, and re-taught important concepts. I honestly enjoyed this Spanish course more than any other I've taken. I learned so much through having weekly writing and speaking assignments. I felt my knowledge grew greatly and my comprehension of different cultures as well. The notes provided vocabulary, culture backgrounds, and grammar lessons. I really enjoyed everything about this course. I will admit that sometimes I was scared about my grade, but the feedback I received never failed to make me feel better.

My professor, Sra. Gillen, constantly provided my assignments with wonderful feedback. If I had made mistakes she would simply walk me through them, explaining what I would want to change in the future. Even if what I had done was not the best she still managed to find something good with it and honor me for it. She also provided daily announcements using posters, slideshows, or any other kind of way to show information. These would show "mini-lessons" or reminders about upcoming assignments. On our Live Classes, she would guide us through the grammar lessons for the week, give us time to practice, and answer each and every question.
