Sometimes, I think that we forget that we are so lucky to have the rights that we have. Being in China has let me realize just how good we have it in America. I would look out my window to see peaceful protesters being attacked by the military to have them silenced. Just earlier today, my extra camera was taken because I was accused of spying on the government. It didn't matter, anyway. I had only gotten a few photos because of the strict rules. I glanced out my window to see a line of a dozen tanks. This was unusual enough, but then I saw a man in a white shirt. I quickly grabbed my camera and watched as the man stood firm as the tank stopped in front of him. When the tank turned, he moved in front of it. The tank turned again, and he moved again. Then, when it stopped, he climbed up, told the driver something, and climbed down and continued to stand in front of the tank. He was eventually moved away by some other people, but at this point, I knew the military was going to be here to take my camera. I took the camera and the precious film and hid it in the top of the toilet. Sure enough, they came in and took some of my film, but I returned a day later to retrieve the camera. Now, that video and those images are everywhere.

This is ridiculous, I have lived here my whole life and never seen Chinese citizens human rights be violated like this before. I saw hundreds of people everywhere and there are many people from hotel workers to students everywhere. I was standing in the middle of the group and all I heard was army tanks driving. People were screaming and when you look around there are people trying to save other people because they were shot or hurt. I thought this was ridiculous and I was scared for my life. I sure hoped that somebody took a video or picture and sent it to other countries so they could come save us. I was trying to help people that were shot. Whenever I looked around I thought people were going to be running and scared but everybody kept protesting. Whenever this happened this just influenced the army men to just keep shooting. This was a very sad day in the tiananmen square and many hundreds of people died that day. I am lucky to have come out of that day alive and I am sure glad I did so I can tell this story to everyone.
