They read a passage about different people and then together came up with summaries using the most important details in the story. The catch was they had to write them as close to 35 words or less. Students then did a gallery walk reading all the summaries and had to write an exit ticket over something they learned. They also critiqued other summaries about the information that was included. We did this over a couple of days.
