         <description><![CDATA[<div>A black slave that master let him assist the Continental Army got into Charles Cornwallis's camp by posing as a runaway slave loyal to Britain.  Cornwallis enlisted him to work as a British spy. In July 1781 he let Lafayette know that the British were marshaling their forces at Yorktown. He went back to his master and stayed a slave for several years until he was set free and renamed himself  with the last name of Lafayette to thank him for helping him free.</div>]]></description>

The Culper Ring managed to gather intelligence for 5 years without losing a spy to Britain. They informed Washington of a British plan to ambush French Forces gathered at New Port, Rhode Island. </div>]]></description>

John Jay recruited him and to keep his cover they fake arrested him and he escaped and went back to the meeting again to report more info. He did this four more times  or more without getting caught.  Even his own parents believed he was a traitor to the American cause.</div>]]></description>
