For example. replacing Microsoft Word with Google Docs. Augmentation refers to incorporating more technology that has even more functions. For example, a teacher can have students create a document in Google Docs, and the document would automatically save. This would be incorporating another aspect of a new technology, because auto save is not a feature available on Microsoft Word. Modification refers to teachers redesigning parts of the task in order to enhance the students learning. For example, after completing their document on Google Docs teachers can have students share the document with their peers, in order to receive feedback. This would enhance the students learning experience, because they are using technology in order to improve their work. Redefinition refers to students using technology to create new tasks. An example of this would be students sharing their Google Docs document with students from other countries. I believe the SAMR model enables teachers to design, develop and transform digital learning experiences. Technology is becoming more advanced and demanding in the 21st century so it is extremely important to engage my students with the use of technology. Each level of the model is applicable for students learning in the modern world because it allows for the creation of new tasks, task redesign, and substitution. Today's technology permits new tasks that were previously inconceivable prior to the 21st century. Based on my own experiences I believe the SAMR model is very useful in my education. Technology such as blackboards, smart boards, iPads, and computers make both learning and teaching easier. Programs like Microsoft allow me to take education even further through power points, tables, posters, and so much more. Children as young as six year old are using these resources in school. Many young children use iPads and computers in school to complete activities. Overview:
In this lesson, students will learn about citizenship and the value of voting through the story of Effie Hobby in the Woman's Suffrage online activity.

Objectives
Students will be able to:
1. Discover the history behind women's suffrage
2. Develop vocabulary related civics and citizenship
3. Explore world and U.S maps
4. Draw conclusions about patterns in women suffrage dates
5. Make personal connections to suffrage history

The Lesson:
Step 1. As a class, discuss the role of a person in a democracy. Ask students about the government in the United States and ask how that government is put into place. Have students talk about voting in governments and also in their lives. For example, school elections or even when parents give their kids a choice on what to eat for breakfast. Write words on the board like vote, citizen, participate, and decide.
Step 2. Depending on the amount of computers and the class reading level, read Effie Hobby's story about voting in 1920. Discuss each Think About It question as you read aloud. If multiple computers are available and students are strong readers, have students grouped around the computer where they can read along as you read aloud.
Step 3. Regroup for a class discussion about Effie's story with the following discussion starters.

What does it mean to live in a democracy?
Why would women ever not have the right to vote?
Who has the right to vote today?
Who does not have that right?
What does it mean to be a citizen?
Why is it important to vote?
Why do you think Effie Hobby has voted in every Presidential election?
How can kids be good citizens?

The KWL chart will then be filled out on the smart board as a class.

Modification: The classroom will be broken up into groups of four and the students will complete a google document together. The google doc will contain information they learned from the story as well as the short video. This google doc can be shared with other classes in the school.

Redefinition: Students will create a Padlet where they will provide feedback with their peers about what they learned about the government and democracy. The Padlet will contain the new vocabulary terms they learned as well as the information they provided in the KWL chart. Then they will go home and show this Padlet to their parents where they can make personal connections to suffrage history.
