I would describe myself as a cultural policy researcher, as I am currently in the final year of a PhD exploring the idea of "Learning Lagacy and Cities of Culture". Recently, I've worked on the evaluation and research team for the NT's Speak Up programme and have taken the first steps into freelance evaluation also. It's lovely to join a community of evaluation geeks!

We're so pleased to announce that in the November Geek Club we will be hearing from GC member Beth Bailey, Head of Creative Learning at Cambridge Junction. The programmes at Cambridge Junction focus on young people with complex needs and/or those who experience barriers in their lives and are shaped by the participants themselves. Cambridge Junction have tried and tested lots of evaluation approaches and still haven’t landed on a framework which works across all programmes. However, piloting the Most Significant Change approach has been transformative to the team and their learning and also their personal enthusiasm and commitment to evaluation. This approach has not been straightforward, including ongoing challenges with quantitative data needs, especially for funders. Beth is keen to share their own experiences with their fellow Geeks and hear from others who are using or trialling similar approaches.

If you haven't signed up yet - you can sign up via the eventbrite linked!

Hi everyone! I'm Ruth and am new to evaluation, so very glad to be joining the Geek Club :)

My work is largely freelance. At the moment, I am working as a critical friend/evaluator with Blue Moose Dance Company on their Paul Hamlyn Teacher Development funded project: From Head to Toe: News - Blue Moose Dance Company.

When not Blue Moosing, I work part-time as a Senior Lecturer/Practitioner-Researcher at the University of Lancashire co-creating interdisciplinary research with our local Dance for Parkinson's community.

And beyond the university, I am developing the Wanna Dance? project with Cheshire Dance, as a Dance Artist In-Residence in social care - exploring 1:1 dancing with adults with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities: Home - PMLD Dance.

I'm keen to explore/discover how I can best capture, evaluate and share lived, embodied and non-verbal experiences. I look forward to geeking out with everyone!

ruthspencer.info@gmail.com

rmspencer2@lancashire.ac,uk

And now to cake - anything with lots of moist, dried fruits - I am in!!!
