Create a pad. Write your name on the top.
1. Give an example of something that you purchased that doesn't seem worth the amount of time you had to work for it.

2.What is an example of items that are worth the work?

3. If we express what we treasure by how we spend our money, what are some examples of good investments of our treasure?

Poor Purchase: We used to purchase new vehicles, and realized the moment we drove off the lot, we lost thousands of dollars. Now we only purchase used. It is a gamble, but fortunately, my husband enjoys mechanical work.
Worth the Work: I pay for a YMCA membership. I'm quite frugal so this was a big deal for me. But I make sure I use it 3-5 times a week to help keep my health in check.
Treasure- I treasure the time I had with my mom before she passed away. I splurged and flew down to Florida to visit her December 2020. It was during the Pandemic, so I was hesitant to travel. So glad we had that time together. No regrets.

Poor Purchase: I don't really think I have a poor purchase. We don't really purchase things, we have been living in survival mode for the last four years. In the past, we have always bought new vehicles but we have had to baby our vehicles. My husband used to be able to work on our cars but he can't do that much anymore. My dad was our go-to person for a lot of things and car repairs were one of them. So now we have to rely on service garages to repair our vehicles.

Worth the work: I purchased a gym membership at Planet Fitness. I purchased a black card so I can take my son with me when he wants to work out. I try to cherish every moment I have with my son, he is my only child and is a miracle child from God.
Treasure: My dad and I ended up in an estranged relationship after I had my son because we moved away from Michigan. He has cheated death three times in the last ten years. Three years ago he didn't think he was coming home from the hospital. But he did, from that time forward he spent the entire three years making amends with myself, his grandson, and my husband. I cherish every moment in the last few years of his life. I was able to help him by doing his laundry, or going to get his groceries every now and then. He would come over and help my husband and son work on lawn mowers for my son's lawn business. I am so thankful to God for giving me the extra time with my dad.

I do not mind paying for quality but its the idea that I always need more and always need the nicest that is the problem.
WORTH IT- money spent on my home and property, I love being home! and I also love creating a safe and cozy environment for my family to thrive in, I love being hospitable and using my house as a safe haven. money spent in my property and space to further this and make it possible is well spent to me!
GOOD INVESTMENT- I feel like any money spent in a ministry that I feel passionate about. Advancing the kingdom in any form is an investment.

Poor Purchase: Nickel and Diming. I would say the purchases that we don't discuss and just piddle the money away. Traditionally, we have not been good savers and planners.
Worth the work: I would definitely say our home. We are just getting our finances in order and have several home improvements planned. I am so excited to fall in love with my home again.
Treasure: My boys. That may not be the right answer but I would bend over backwards to help them in any way I can. In fact, currently, my oldest, a Senior at Coastal Carolina University, is suffering from homesickness. I will likely attempt to fly him home soon.
Additionally, my in-laws are aging very rapidly. Kyle and I have started going down to see them in FL for an extended weekend every year around his birthday. This gives them a taste of home, us a break from work, and time with mom and dad with no distractions.

Poor Purchase: An example of a poor purchase in my life currently is a truck me and my wife bought. We purchased a nice silver chevy equinox for a lot of money that turned out to be a lemon. It seems like every time we turn around we have to put more money into it to get it fixed.
Worth the work: An example of items that are worth the work is the gym membership that I have at the planet fitness. I use it about 4 to 5 times a week to make sure I am consistent in getting my. body the proper exercise it needs.
Treasure: An example of good investments of our treasure is the money we spend on our education. It isn't cheap to get an education but the fact that we proceed anyway means we value learning and evolving in specific areas of our life.

Poor Purchase: In the past I spent much money at the casino. Not a wise investment as there is no guarantee pay off. I have spent money on entertainment which has no lasting value but maybe a good memory from time to time.
Worth the Work: Being able to pay the rent where I live. It may not be a home I own, but I am content to have a roof over my head without having to have a roomate.
Treasure: Taking my children to the movies or to Cedar Point, Michigan Adventures, things of this nature as a family, is what I treasure.

Poor Purchase - A few years ago I bought my first new vehicle. I had always been a "no car payment" person and somehow threw that out the window. I now regret that decision. It has been a good vehicle, I just could have done so much more with the money spent.
Worth the work - I have been working with a personal trainer to get myself on track healthwise. I am learning things I can use later in life that will be of benefit.
Treasure - Traveling with my family. Growing up, my family could not afford to travel. Now I have my own family and we are fortunate enough to be able to go on trips and experience other parts of the world.

Poor Purchase: I enjoy car projects, but occasionally I bite off more than I can chew and take on one too many. I have found myself on more than one occasion spending money on something that I do not have the time or money to invest that is needed.

Worth the Work: I have found that I am most satisfied with the money that I invest in my home. I went through and painted several rooms last winter and felt good about the money and time that was invested, but most of all was happy with the finished product.

Treasure: I treasure my the time I spend on vacation. I only get 4 weeks off of work per year, so I make it a point to really choose something that will be peaceful and to help me relax.
