Attack on Titan aka Shingeki No Kyojin (TV Show)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pl75nXkOfg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9l1sZ-fRVA

The platform that this is accessible on is on Netflix, which means you can watch this on your TV if it is connected. You can also find this on online websites such as YouTube, KissAnime, CrunchyRoll etc. So you can easily watch this on a mobile device or a computer easily, using the internet. This also means you can watch it on your PC or mobile devices.

The purpose of this is into entertain the audience, because this meant to make the viewer imagine themselves in their situation, as powerful soldiers killing the titans. The scenes are designed to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat, as they watch action packed scenes of action, wondering what could possibly happen next to their favourite characters, and if humanity could ever be truly free.
However, much later on in the show, it also shows the moral ambiguity between right and wrong. and makes the reader, persuading them to question what truly is right from wrong as major plot twists are revealed. Above all the purpose is to promote their product. They are very aware for which audience that they want to cater to.

The target audience for this series is young teenagers - young adults. This is very clear because the protagonists are roughly 14 - 17 years old when the series first starts. It's also revealed later on that the antagonists are also the same age. So people around that age group will be able to relate to them and would be able to imagine themselves as said characters. These character also can be seen as role models for young fans, since they would want to be as strong and brave as
them.
There are also the veterans that the slightly older fans can relate to and imagine themselves in the same position. People can also watch this globally because this series is available in many languages. For example, even though a lot of the time Anime is in Japanese with English subtitles. There are also dubs available. Which means you can listen to in English, Italian, German etc. Which means that fans all over the world can watch this anime and be capable of understanding it.
The classes would be E - C2 (non working - skilled working class.) This is because of the age criteria. Usually, the viewers would either be students, or starting their first jobs, so they wouldn't be making that much money in general terms. The anime is for both genders to enjoy, as the fanbase for the show is very diverse gender-wise.

The codes and conventions of this anime is post apocalyptic fiction. The trailers make it extremely clear, for example in the trailers, you are immediately introduced to the titans. These are mindless, man eating giants some of them reaching heights over 50+ metres tall if they're colossal! We also learn that humanity was forced to hide behind the walls to survive, until the titans break down the wall. Throughout the trailer they bring up how humanity is in a dire situation. And how they need to fight to survive. Which accurately portrays a post apocalyptic situation. Also this is a dark fantasy/action anime. This is very clear throughout the series, since the trailer consisted of plenty of fight scenes, it showed them killing the titans with action, dramatic music playing in the background. They also have the iconic 3D manoeuvre gear. Which allows them to fly with long, sharp swords, in order to kill the titans.
The scenes are extremely fast paced, which makes the scenes more exciting and the fight scenes more dramatic.
The setting of the scenes are inside the walls, where they are constantly in a life or death situation as the titans continue to take more and more lives. These types of settings are perfect for action, because of their situation, it means that they would be constantly having to fight to stay alive, thus making it easier for the creators to use more fighting sequences. The characters in this are mostly all part of the "Survey Corps", these are the soldiers that risk their lives for the freedom of humanity. They go outside the walls, they fight the titans and usually experience heavy losses, they are also trying to find the truth about their situation and why everything happened. The main characters, Eren is a titan shifter that can transform whenever he has to. Mikasa however, is an Ackerman, this means that she is part of a clan, and when her powers awaken in dangerous situations, she gains the strength, and skill of a 100 soldiers. These characters are very important as part of the action genre. Since this allows the animators to have much more powerful and exciting battle/fight scenes than they would if the lead characters were just average people. This also defeats stereotypes because one of the most strongest characters is female, and there are roughly equal amounts of men and women in the show in the military. They are also considered equals and are shown to be just as skilled as each other. Which is good because usually only men are seen as soldiers and women are often seen as much weaker than men. Which is clearly not the case throughout the whole series.

For the narrative. The story is not linear. Since the very first scene is a flash forward to the titans destroying wall maria and (spoiler alert) killing Eren's mother. Also throughout the anime, there are numerous flashbacks. This usually occurs after a character has died and their past contains clues about the truth about the walls and titans. This later got revealed in chapter 86 of the manga. So this story does not have the usual structure of a story. In the story, there are also time skips from the past and future.

Part of Me - Katy Perry (Music Video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuwfgXD8qV8

This is a music video, the original source is from the official YouTube channel, This means that this is easily accessible from the internet with a pc or mobile device such as smart phone, tablet, iPad, iPod etc. You can also watch this from your TV. This is possible if you have YouTube connected to your TV. Either that, or TV channels usually have music channels, so you can switch on one of the channels and watch the music videos through there.

The main focus of a music video, is to promote the product. The creators want the music video to be successful, this means that they have to know what their target audience is, and what people are fans or are willing to listen to Katy Perry. So they have to create the video for them so it won't fail as a product. Another key aspect of this is to persuade. The reason for this is because the purpose of the music video is meant to show strength, how you don't need to rely on anyone else, how you are capable of doing anything you want and nothing should hold you back regardless. The example they use in this is the marines. This subtle, but strong message would stick with the viewers and would make them want to share the video with others. This deviates from the norm because this shows women in army uniform, that usually only features men. Showing that because you're a female, you don't have to conform to stereotypes and can still be strong fighters. Finally, the music video was also used to inform. This was also designed to show the viewers how it is possible for female marines to exist, while actively encouraging girls to join by sharing it in a positive light.

The target audience for this music video is females, usually to mid teens to adults. This is very telling because throughout the music video, most of people in it are women. Also, during this music video, from the very start, it is empowering women and saying to them that they can do whatever they like. That includes joining the marines. They will resonate with this message, which will make them love the music video. This can also introduce new fans to her music that may not have known her previously. The target age for this is roughly 18 - 27. This is because this is the rough age of the people in the music video.
The social grades for this video is D - C1. (working class - low middle class) This is because the age for what they are promoting requires you to be an adult to join. However, the people in the video are shown to just be normal people. Just your average people. So they wouldn't be extremely high in the social grade rankings either. This is important to mention, because the people featured in the video are the same demographic that they want for the roles in real life.

The codes and conventions for this music video are that this clearly is taking place during wars. This is very clear because of the costumes they are wearing (soldiers uniform), military equipment such as tanks, guns and helicopters etc. They also show training before they are made to fight. There are scenes inside the marines room, and the night shots are filmed through night vision. This helps set the scene and lets the viewer know, that this is clearly taking place in the marines. There is a lot of scenes throughout the video that hints at it being about it being a metaphor for a breakup. Showing her burning the letter and showing how women are strong and independent (through the marines). This music video successfully defeats stereotypes about women. This shows them managing to fight alongside men and are shown as equals. While there is normally a stereotype about how, they are nurturing and men are the aggressive ones. Representing them both equally.

For the narrative, the story is linear to some extent. Since it features a beginning, middle and end. However, the music video does contain flashbacks to Katy's characters previous relationship. So it does have a usual structure, but with flashbacks whenever the relationship is brought up.

Corsodyl - Ignore (Advert)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEOMGStLTh8

This is an advert, since this link is from YouTube, a popular video website platform. This shows how it is easily accessible it is online. You can watch this online, usually the advert is shown before the actual video is played. This is because advertisers pay for their advertisements to be shown on online websites. They usually also put adverts before the video starts, to allow a much better chance for the viewer to watch it. Adverts are also extremely common on TV, for private companies, such as ITV for example. They usually rely on adverts as one of their sources of income. These adverts usually take place, roughly every 15 minutes during shows, lasting almost 4 minutes long combined. Also adverts are featured before and after a show. Which also makes it extremely likely for the viewers to watch them. These advertising companies can also sponsor shows, making it more likely for their product to be remembered.

The main purpose for this and all adverts is promotion. The reason why they are created is to promote their products on various platforms, in the hope to boost sales. In this case, this advert is promoting their mouthwash. Throughout the video, it is designed to remind us how we could be missing the signs of gum disease. And how you could lose your teeth without meaning to unless you buy their product. Which they say that stops them from happening. This is designed to shock the audience, since they may not have thought about anything happening to their teeth. After seeing the actresses mouth in the end, this would encourage them to buy their product, to help perfect their dental hygiene.
Secondly, another purpose for this advert is to educate the viewer. This is because throughout the advert, they highlight that one of the leading symptoms of gum disease is bleeding gums, however, it is also a symptom that most people overlook and miss. This advert knows this being a dental company, so they ask the rhetorical question, while showing blood from her gums and also other parts of her body, such as her eyes "we won't ignore blood from any other part of our body, so why do we ignore it from our gums?" This would get the audience to question. Since they would be repulsed by the scenes shown. They will start wondering if there have been signs that they have missed, which would make them want to take them more seriously and buy their products in an attempt to prevent it from happening.

The target audience for this video are women, this is because the person they hired for their video is a female. And they have indeed used heavy stereotypes. Such as women obsessing over their appearance, the use of feminine colours such as pink and makeup. This can be also intended to show even if you do take care of yourself and manage your appearance. You are not automatically immune from problems, such as gum disease, that you may simply miss. Making the fear all too real. The key age for the product buyers are young adults. This is because this is usually an age where you are more focused on what you look like. This would also be highly alarming for them at the idea of losing their permanent teeth. This would make them more concerned and would encourage them to buy their products. However, for the secondary audience the average age to contract gum disease is roughly middle - later adulthood. This would mean that if they researched it afterwards and discovered that they are statistically more likely, they will also buy the product. The social grades for these products are D - B (working class - middle class). This is because, anyone at any social grade, can be affected by gum disease. But in the music video, it is clear the model/actress in it, has a higher social grade because of the clothing she wears and the location where the video is shot. Since everything looks very expensive.

The codes and conventions, of this advert, is that, this is clearly designed about Women. This is because they use the stereotypes that are typically associated about them. They use feminine colours such as pink, they make the actress appear vain about her appearance, as well as makeup and fashion. The advert takes place in her house, as you can see her bedroom, bathroom and stairs. They used this to show how rich she is. This is meant to show how even the higher class people with everything, still have issues with their mouths. That anyone could be affected. The reasons the stereotypes were used was because, it shows how even if you are obsessed with the way you look. There are subtle signs that even they could miss. Which highlights the warning signs, making them more important.

The story for this advert is completely linear. There is a start, beginning and end. There are no flashbacks or flashforwards. The scenes are all shown in chronological order.
