The texture and flavor of the biscuits is one of key features that still attracts the Indian market from 1939.

The long shelf life is also considered a plus point, and that is why it is being used in food-packages and donation kits for natural calamity relief work. During independence, biscuits were considered for elite classes due to the price hike. The importing of biscuits increased. To counter this situation, Parle started 'Parle Gluco' which acted as an alternative for these high priced biscuits, and their price was kept low. The motive was to provide these biscuits to the common people. These biscuits became so popular that Indian army used these biscuits.

Avinash S
CSE-A
BL.EN.U4CSE19010

Lavanya Ratna Sirisha
BL.EN.U4CSE19076
CSE-B

Spotify is an international online and offline music streaming and media service provider. It came into the picture when there was a need for people to store multiple songs but wasn't possible due to storage limitations. Today, it holds a total revenue of US$9 billion.

Reasons for success -
1. Great User Interface/Experience model - it provides a good list of search variables such as the name of the song, artist, album, or genre. The availability of machine-curated and customized playlists caught the attention of the audience.
2. Use of ML/AI - The use of predictive algorithms and creating recommender systems based on a user's previous choices proved to be a massive hit. The user is pulled to stay connected and increase their usage time, thereby benefitting Spotify.
3. Spotify for Artists - a platform to provide artists and their teams with audience statistics and various tools to promote their music and manage their profiles on Spotify. A whole lot of artists from around the world got on to Spotify. This shows that the product not only understands the needs of listeners but also that of the creators, thus covering a bigger part of the demographic.
4.Expansion Into Other Content Forms - With the onset of the pandemic, adding a section for podcasts, audiobooks, etc proved to be beneficial.
5. End to piracy - With its freemium policy, Spotify aims at targeting the problem of piracy in the industry. You'd listen to songs for free, albeit with a few ads, With a premium account, you can skip the ads.
6. Integration with devices - You can use it on phones, tablets, desktops (web version and app both supported), Chromecast, Google Home, Alexa, Playstation, Apple Watch, etc.

It was one of the best social media platforms in terms of features and tech. But the problem was that it was way ahead of its time. back in 2012 when the cost of data, storage space and processing power was quite low, having such a futuristic product was not convenient for the users.

BARIKI VARSHITHA
BL.EN.U4EAC19004
EAC

NANO car was designed by TATA company. It was a failure because it could keep up the promises and mainly lacked safety measures. Some of the main reasons behind the failure is lack of correct strategy, their main target were rural and village people but as their show rooms were mainly in urban areas they could not make it, their was a huge gap between the sellers and targeted customers. They also delayed the product nearly 18 months so they could not reach their target. The words cheap, 1 lakh rupee car did not go well because they could not keep up the price and on road price was nearly 2.5lakh. Also, car faced may technical issues, lack of safety they did not had any air bags, poor ride comfort and stability due to the light-weighted body. In order to decrease the price they have compromised with many other things also. Due to which it is a big tragedy in history of Indian Automotive Industry.

This experiment suggested that people don't recognize which was which. All that mattered was the name on the bottle: "cocacola". This is the power of branding. When cocacola wanted to make it's entry in india, it was very tough for them to send one message for the entire population as india is very diversified.

In the early 1900's there existed a tradition. For every christmas or halloween, mom's would bake cake for their children. It signified the love and affection of a mom towards her children. This baking would usually take very long, cracking the eggs, preparing the dough, putting it in microwave for many hours, this was such a tedious work. Hence a company came up with an idea of a cakemix. This drastically reduced time and effort. Now any mom had to just add some eggs and water to the mix and microwave it. But this product failed miserably. After deep research, psycologists hired by the company found out that the cakemix undermined the efforts made by a mom. This study conculed that efforts made by a mother towards her children is not considered "tedious" by her. It's shows her love and affection and this cakemix undermined mother's efforts , hence also undermined love and affection towards her children

Patnala Atul Prem
BL.EN.U4CSE19009
CSE

In 2015, Americans reclaimed the public utility that built the 21st century, protecting it from the greed of monopolistic gatekeepers that had spent vast resources capturing federal regulators. Oneplus is one of the top-selling android phones and for so long their brand marketed the phone for the specs they were providing at affordable rates. This series of 9 unlike the others was kind of overpriced and had a lot of faults in it from the day it launched. Oneplus unlike Apple cannot sell their products using brand name alone. The other big flaw in Iphone was using their camera specs as their marketing key point, which later turned out to be a disaster as the camera itself had many flaws.

Nirmal G K
EAC
BL.EN.U4EAC19048

Anything that is relatable and witty always catches the eye. This awareness advertisement did just that. It is kept minimalistic with not a lot of words making it easier for people to decipher the message. Moreover, usually when people see something out of the box, they would tend to take a picture of it and post it on social media. This way the reach of this advertisement increases too with minimal effort. Another tactic that has been used it to lure in the crowd is by putting up a "reward" based idea, in the sense, people would tend to do more if it reaps benefits. In this case, a simple "if" condition has been put out. IF they keep distance now, later they would be able to enjoy the benefits.
Thus, it serves its purpose of conveying the message to maintain distance in a creative way.

Trisha Chander
BL.EN.U4CSE19133
Computer Science and Engineering

Having had terrible experience with it, iTunes goes down as one of the badly designed products. It started as a simple music player but later morphed into the entire media center of the Mac (and Windows).

Considering JUST the recent update, labels and texts were reduced to smaller icons. The text size shrunk and became thinner. The muted colours ( meaning there is only colour of different shades) made it difficult to notice where there was an emphasis. Confusing option menus have to be sifted through just to get the interface to be understandable. Not to mention, the performance issues worsen with every release.

I believe the reason this happened is that Apple has no specific end goal for iTunes. Secondly, Apple is aware about all these issues yet there is no action to rectify it. Solely due to this reason, iTunes is a poor product by Apple.

Trisha Chander
BL.EN.U4CSE19133
Computer Science and Engineering

In fact in 2010, the owner of the Segway company, Jimi Heselden, himself lost control of his Segway, fell off a cliff and died at the scene. This was because of design. Later came dock less scooters where users balance using legs and in case of danger could jump off easily.

->Lack of planning - People using Segway were not wearing Helmets and this was a confusion for police officials to allow them or not.

NuBike was designed by Rodger Parker. When he saw riders struggling with greasy chains to fix a flat he thought that there would be a better way to solve this problem and that is the raise of NuBike. Then he started to create new designs that solve this issue when he thought of a design that might work then he hires a machinist to fabricate his designs and that revolutionized the bicycle design.
With this new design compared to the design of the old bicycle, this doesn't require any chain mechanism for the peddling system. This runs on the vertical peddling system which requires very less blood oxygen level to the legs. This also provides a smooth transition from one pedal to the other which reduces the kneeling effect. These are the reasons why I think this is a well-designed product.

K.N.S.S.SANDEEP
BL.EN.U4ECE19069
ECE DEPARTMENT

But consumers of the brand always associated it with its salty and crunchy snacks. This lead to the failure of this product.
It didn't work out so well, something about the Frito-Lay name just didn't sound refreshing to consumers. This has been observed by the entrepreneur and the parent company named Pepsico has stopped the manufacturing of this product in the year 1998.

K.N.S.S.SANDEEP
BL.EN.U4ECE19069
ECE DEPARTMENT

FPV (First Person View) drones are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAV), wherein the pilot controls the aircraft from their perspective on the ground, FPV drones are piloted from the drone’s point of view( an onboard camera on drone).
Reason why I've felt this product is a good design is because, of the portability and camera clarity. Before drone technology came into limelight, UAVs like planes were used for military purpose like surveillance, and combat purpose. But with such robust design by reducing size and increasing efficiency of drones to carry heavier weights along with a FPV design can reduce the resources used for such defense systems.

M S Yashwanth
BL.EN.U4ECE19105
Electronics and Communication Engineering

The best part of the post-it note is that is can be used on another paper or document and then removed without any damage to the document. The adhesive is light and completely removable. There is no glue needed to stick them onto a paper, walls, glasses and most of the surfaces. They are used extensively as reminders and bookmarks. The colors that these post-it notes come in make it easy for spotting them and hence difficult for someone to miss them completely. Them being compact, portable and lightweight adds to the ease of use. They are available in different sizes and are easy to write on, making them one of the most used products in the office/business workspace.

C.Shanthini
BL.EN.U4EEE19007
Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Yakult is a fermented probiotic/bioactive yogurt drink that originates from Japan. It's popular in Asia and present in 38 countries at least 40 million bottles of Yakult are consumed every single day.

Yakult was invented by DR.MINORU SHIROTA. He was born in 1899 in rural Nagano Japan, and during that time Japan was yet to be the wealthy first world country we know today, back then especially in Nagano a lot of the people were suffering from poverty and a lot of children were weakening as they could not afford nutritious meals, among the causes of death of a poverty-stricken population is dysentery (digestive system-related infection due to poor hygiene and nutritional deficiencies) this caused an outbreak of illnesses in the country

Determined to beat the diseases that are taking such a toll on the nation Dr. Shirota began conducting research on microorganisms in hopes of developing some sort of preventive medicine, eventually it lead him to discover lactic acid bacteria that fought off bad bacteria causing typhus and dysentery. By 1930 Dr. Shirota managed to successfully culture and strengthened a strain of lactic acid bacteria which was named the lactobacillus kci Shirota. It was a remarkable achievement since this bacteria could survive the journey to the intestines that eventually led to a healthier stomach, this would give people a bigger chance of fighting illnesses that were ravaging the population.

The next challenge was to how to get this to as many people as possible, the first option was through injection which would require a lot of capital and would take a lot more time. So he got more creative and thought "why not put it into a drink one that tasted good and one that people could afford" and so in 1935 Yakult was introduced to the market.

Benefits of drinking Yakult Daily

-It improves your digestion

-It strengthens your immune system

-It can be a gentle form of skincare

-It can prevent yeast infection

-It can prevent and treat Diarrhea

These many advantages are provided for an affordable price.

Initially, as this product was new to the market many did know the actual benefits of Yakult. So the Yakult launched "The Yakult lady home delivery system" which was composed of only women who would go door-door and explain the health benefits of the probiotic drinks for the intestinal tract.

Yakult as a human-centered design came up with a lot of advantages and health benefits for humans. Because many times we may not think of the digestive system when we consider our wellbeing, but that is where overall health and proper nutrition depend. The immunity ranging from children to elderly people depends on proper digestion. As we know Yakult prevents digestive disorders and helps build immunity. The founder also believed that a healthy intestinal tract leads to a longer life and aimed to create a product that would preserve life and well-being. And today, it is approved to create the world's first probiotic beverage, Yakult!

Sources
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakult#Marketing_history
https://youtu.be/i3Po-M1bdOE
https://thenextfind.com/pros-cons-of-drinking-yakult-daily/

Team Jatayu
Team Members, Roll number, Dept
Ashuthosh Mohanty,
BL.EN.U4EEE19002, EEE

Bhavna Methre,
BL.EN.U4CSE19015, CSE

Trisha Chander,
BL.EN.U4CSE19113, CSE

P Lahari Kiran,
BL.EN.U4ECE19116, ECE

Srujan T L,
BL.EN.U4EEE19028, EEE

In 2005 PepsiCo subsidiary Frito lay brought cheetos lip balm to the market. The product was made by Lotta Luv, a New York cosmetics company which is specialized in licensing flavors from well-known brands. The reason this product failed is because it actually tastes and smell like cheetos. It is cheese flavored. As cheetos was loved by so many of them they attempted to make a lip balm to satisfy the peoples need for chapped lips and taste of cheetos where their assumption went completely wrong because there wasn't any requirement of cheese flavored lip balm. The target audience probably were 8-14 years children. The product was not good enough. The quality was not good. It did not meet the peoples requirements which led to bad feedback and the marketing was also not successful. It was taken down from the market in 2006.

CH RISHITHA
BL.EN.U4CSE19021
CSE A

Orkut was a social networking site that was founded in 2004 and owned by Google. It was shut down in 2014 due to a drastic fall in user base and evolution of far reaching social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. Initially, there was a larger base for Orkut, but with time, it lost its momentum among the audience. In the later stages, the accessibility of Orkut became quite complicated which was another reason for the plummeted reach. Moreover, Orkut allowed anyone to view the profile details of a person, which was a privacy issue for people. This was taken care by Facebook. Hence, targeting audience that needed the privacy. The flaws in Orkut were resolved in other social sites, which led to the downfall of the service. Even with various redesigns to the original design, it could never recover from the decline of user base and had to shutdown eventually.

C.Shanthini
BL.EN.U4EEE19007
Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Juicero was a $400 cold press juicer that marketed itself as wifi connected and hence, "bringing convenience" to its users. The machine was to be configured with an app and needed juice sachets that would be inserted into the presser. The juicer would not work unless it was connected to the wifi, and was inherently slow at doing its simple task of squeezing out the juice packet. Bloomberg poked fun at the unnecessity of the product by showing a video where simply squeezing out the packet with your bare hands took less time. Yet this juicer had the entire process of making an account, scanning a QR code and only worked with "certified Juicero" packets. Anyone who watched the ad for Juicero understood that it was a waste of both time and money. Juicero had a funding amount of $118.5 million, but not surprisingly, within a few months after its release, it filed for bankruptcy.

Vinamratha Pattar
BL.EN.U4CSE19145
CSE

Discord is a VoIP, instant messaging and digital distribution platform. In my opinion, it's the perfect example of a product that manages to capture the best aspects of its competitors, combining them and yet being unique in its own way. Users of discord can join communities and interact with others via text messages, voice, and video calls. It was initially used by gamers, but eventually became a popular platform for everyone to set up their own communities, or join others. Even popular internet personalities have their own discord servers where they get to interact with fans and also create a space for their fans to get along with each other. During the pandemic, discord became even more popular with many organizations and institutions setting up servers for their members. Millions of people use discord to connect every day, whether it's for casually talking or for collaborating on projects from different parts of the world. Features of discord are definitely seen in social media apps like Reddit and Tumblr, and in VoIPs like Skype or Zoom, but as of now, no service can manage to recreate what Discord has done over the years.

Vinamratha Pattar
BL.EN.U4CSE19145
CSE

Everyone's heard of it, everyone's even eaten it, Maggi is one product that is so universally successful(at least in India) that it is synonymous with the food item instant noodles. In remote towns or villages, if you go and say instant noodles or even noodles, the people there won't understand what you're referring to, however if you take the name Maggi, anyone from Kashmir to Kanyakumari would instantly know what you're talking about.
Now talking about it's success and how history was made when the Swiss-made Nestle owned Maggi made it's way to India in 1983. Now whether it be the versatility of Maggi as in every person who has ever made it has made it in their own style or the cheap prices and the genius portion size thought out by Nestle India or the aggressive marketing strategy employed by Nestle to market Maggi, by distributing it for free in primary schools in Delhi, targeting the consumer population or be it their wide range of slogans that they have come up over the years or using daily soap actors in their advertisements to appeal to the house wives whose final decision it is in any house as to what food would be made. Maggi is a phenomenon, even now giving people nostalgia or making the Sunday morning breakfast for the kids interesting and less tiring for the mother. Maggi is still even after almost 40 years, a household name.
In 2015, Maggi was also at the center of a massive food safety scandal, during which the noodles allegedly tested positive for high lead content, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India issued a brief, nationwide ban on all Maggi products. Nestlé India has long maintained the product is safe, and that its own testing at the time “consistently show levels in Maggi Noodles to be within permissible limits.” But even during this its "fan-base" was so devout that during the ban, customers would ask if Hungry Head was somehow still serving the noodles, Prohibition-style. This shows how Maggi cannot be taken away from the Indian masses anytime soon(or at all for that matter).
After Parle G, Maggi can be argued to be the most well known and loved consumable ever brought or made in India ever and it's success being one of the biggest to be ever seen.

Daibaan Mukherjee
BL.EN.U4CSE19032
CSE-A

"What were they thinking?", "What is even a Frooti Fizz?" or "What are we even mixing?", these are the thoughts which came to people's minds when this abomination was launched in march 2017, and as expected this product flunked in the market and went down worse than the real estate market in '05.
Now addressing the elephant in the room, why was it a failure, well the product was setup to fail. Using pre-established brands to launch a new brand is quite common. But using two brands to make a new product is quite different and not in a positive sense. Taking a household name of Frooti and then sullying it by adding fizz to it and trying to compete in the aerated drink business. Parle already had a bad track record in this by launching Grappo Fizz on the basking in the success of their other product, namely Appy Fizz. Grappo Fizz did not work out at all so why would they try to recreate that again with using the base as frooti this time and even using Alia Bhatt as their brand ambassador could save them with their unoriginal name and lastly the taste. All food products need to have at least an above average flavour which would appeal to the masses. But Frooti Fizz, this amalgamation of mango juice and fizz do NOT mix. Quoting my little sister who was somehow excited over it's launch after seeing its advertisement on TV, and when we went and bought it from the local stores, she said, "This has such bad taste", a mere child could not be fooled by their flashy advertisements as the product tasted as if Frooti had suffered a heart burn. If your product can not appease a small child, it would not ever work with the Indian masses.
In the food industry some things don't mix, mango juice and fizz being one of them. Now their extremely unoriginal name, it almost feels like a fan-made product, I mean some originality can be expected from such a big company such as Parle. In conclusion out of the all reasons for it's failure, I would say it failed at the fundamental taste test

Daibaan Mukherjee
BL.EN.U4CSE19032
CSE-A

Introduction:
AMUL - Anand milk union limited - from Gujarat
It's a dairy cooperative society at Anand district(Milk capital of India), Gujarat. It was managed by Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd.(GCMMF), which is now jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat. It established India as the world's largest producer of milk and milk products.

History:
AMUL cooperative was registered on 19 December 1946 as a response to the exploitation of marginal milk producers by traders and agents in small cities. During that time, The prices of milk were arbitrarily determined. The government had given Polson an effective monopoly in milk collection from Kaira district and its subsequent supply to Mumbai. Angered by the unfair trade practices, The farmers of Kaira approached Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the leadership of local farmer leader Tribhuvandas K. Patel. He advised them to form a cooperative (i.e. Kaira District Co-operative Milk Producers' Union) and supply milk directly to the Bombay Milk Scheme instead of Polson.

HCD Process:
1) Inspiration Phase :

Because monopoly was given to Polson, and rates on milk were decided by them both the milk producers and the users faced a great loss.

2) Ideation phase :

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel sent Morarji Desai to organize farmers. The farmers held a strike, and formed a co operative to collect and process milk where selling of milk was decentralized. This helped even small farmers a lot.

Then-Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri visited Anand to inaugurate Amul's cattle feed factory also setting up the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to expand AMUL.

Under the leadership of Tribhuvandas Patel, AMUL was further developed through the efforts of Dr.Verghese Kurian and H. M. Dalaya. Dalaya's innovation of making skim milk powder from buffalo milk was a technological breakthrough that revolutionized India's organized dairy industry.

With Kurian's help, the process was expanded on a commercial scale.

3) Implementation Phase:

Thus AMUL was successfully implemented. Because the farmers were directly involved in collection and sale, the prices on milk reduced. Both farmers and the end users benefitted.

HCD Outcomes:
1) User Satisfaction:
As prices reduced, sales were pretty good. Many products were sold and got a great review from the users.

2) Sustained user-product relationship:
Amul has been existing since 1946 and even today is a major brand in milk industry. This shows the sustained user trust in amul . The Fire phone only had Firefly
(it takes advantage of the smartphone’s camera to let you identify things like phone numbers, movies, books, games, CDs, food and more just by pointing your camera at them. Too expensive - It had the same price as that of an iPhone but with lesser features.
3. Industrial design - it was too heavy and "bland" as many describe it. The cohesion of services was poor too.

He realized that you can never legislate away from piracy. Laws can definitely help, but it doesn't take away the problem. The only way to solve the problem was to create a service that was better than piracy and at the same time compensate for the music industry.

Focusing on Accessibility, Not Ownership -The music service was able to identify the pain points of users who faced a troublesome process to listen to music. They understood that customers did not necessarily want to own music. Instead, their fundamental job to be done was to have the access to listen to music.Spotify was able to innovate the process of music listening and introduced a streaming service that focused on accessibility.

Providing Music on the go, across devices - Spotify understood that users wanted to listen to music everywhere they go. So instead of transferring files to devices or carrying a portable music device around. One can listen to music by opening the app on their smartphone. In recent times people have multiple devices so Spotify provides streaming on multiple devices. It focused on the user's requirement of listening to music whenever and wherever they go and across different devices.

Spotify uses user research to meet the tacit needs of users that are not primarily considered by people. One such example is the Spotify pet playlist. They conducted user-based research with streaming pet- owners. They realized that there was an unrequited need for the pet owners for music to enjoy with their pets. To cater to this specific aspect, Spotify launched Pet Playlist in 2020 which is personalized for pet owners to listen to with their pets. The idea was pretty well accepted and welcomed among streamers. This proves the importance of user-based research and HCD for the betterment of services.

Spotify has a very unique algorithm that creates playlists based on a person’s mood. Playlists such as “Chill”, “Workout”, “Hype” etc. Spotify analyzes the songs played by a person usually to determine the mood the person is most likely to be in. Spotify also has premade lists for International Hits, Weekly Hits, and Hits of different genres. Spotify’s personal touch makes the user feel more comfortable using the software. Spotify’s auto-play option also plays the next song based on how likely the person is to like that song, based on the songs he was listening to initially.

Spotify pushed things a step further by utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to create custom playlists. There are a variety of custom playlists available, such as Discover Weekly, which predicts new music that users will love, and On Repeat, which comprises songs that users have played regularly. Spotify's attention to diverse user profiles and listening behaviors is shown in the range of playlists available to users. Spotify's usage of human-centered design helps to mold playlists algorithms into these categories As a result, I find Spotify's human-centered approach impressive, especially when employing technology like artificial intelligence.

REFERENCES :-

https://www.scribd.com/document/522047172/Spotify
https://www.netsolutions.com/insights/create-product-with-human-centered-design/
https://www.netsolutions.com/insights/create-product-with-human-centered-design/

TEAM DAKSHA

BL.EN.U4EEE19007

C.Shanthini

BL.EN.U4ECE19061

Jahnavi.B

BL.EN.U4EAC19048

Nirmal G K

BL.EN.U4CSE19021

C.Rishitha

BL.EN.U4ECE19125

P.Prasanna Reddy

The puzzle’s inventor, Erno Rubik, patented the iconic puzzle in 1975 and launched it internationally in 1980. He never anticipated the level of success his puzzle would enjoy. The foremost reason why it is successful is that people took foremost interest in solving the cube and discovered various formulae to solve it. Why it is well designed is because when you are building a rubix cube it gets necessary for you to follow a typical formula if not we will never be able to solve a rubix cube. Interestingly There are various methods and even structures by which we solve the cube.

Rajarshi Dey
BL.EN.U4EEE19021
Electrical and Electronics Engineering

Intro And History:

Id fresh foods is a company founded by p. Mustafa and his four cousins based from Bangalore, India.

The company was established in 2005. Initially the company supplied ten packets of one-kilogram batter to 20 stores in Bengaluru under the brand name ‘ID’(Idly, Dose) – while operating from a small room with one mere grinder with the sole aim of making the process of making or buying batter simpler compared to the methods then where only way u could get batter was either by preparing it at your homes or going to mills.

The idea was an immediate click and they started seeing immediate profit. Soon, Mustafa invested INR 6 lakh more to add more machines. At the same time, they also moved to a bigger space of 800 sq. ft.

As the demand for their product increased mainly from the people in the IT sector to whom buying readymade batter was the simplest way led to Mustafa investing another Rs 40 lakh in 2008 and buying 2,500 square feet shed in the Hoskote Industrial Area at Bangalore. In 2009, he sold his property in Kerala that he had purchased while working in Dubai and pumped in an additional Rs 30 lakh into the business. In two years, the company was making 2000 Kg of batter daily. And also, the number of stores partnered with them was increased to 300.

In 2014, ID Fresh foods raised Rs 35 crore in the first round of funding from Helion Venture Partners. In 2016, ID Fresh foods manufacture around 50,000 kg of batter daily from their units across the country and one in Dubai, which converts into a million idlis.

HCD process
Inspiration and Ideation phase:

· ID company's goal is to ensure that people all around the world get fresh, nutritious and delicious Indian food.

· The main focus of the company is to make cooking effortless and fun.

· The anguish of working people too exhausted to cook a meal, bachelors and all other people fueled the inspiration for this company, and its mission speaks for itself:

· "To make the preparation of home-made meals a pleasure".

· The products were designed to be a professional assistant to the homemakers.

· The values of ID (natural food without preservatives) helped it to be the biggest disruptor of the market.

· The company's competition always added preservatives which prolonged the shelf life of their products.

· To tackle this ID had to reinvent the traditional distribution network using "Zero Inventory model"

· Zero inventory is a business strategy where companies aspire to hold little or no on-hand inventory stock.

· The aim of zero inventory is to order the exact quantity that will be sold, and receipt goods into stock when they are needed

· Data analysis also fueled the growth eliminating wastage increasing revenue

· Research on food technology: how to pack different foods

Implementation

· The very 1st investment of Mustafa was Rs 50,000 and a 50sq-feet kitchen with grinder, mixer and sealing machine
· All 5 brothers started investing their time, effort and money in this companies growth, But sadly it didn’t be a good start for them, When they made 100 packets only 10 were sold out and 90 were returned.

· With constant hard work 5brothers in no time made it,

· By 2009,They were supplying 3000kg's of batter in Bengaluru.

· Which gave them a annual revenue of 1 crore, And then boom, They decide to go for an expansion for their company, and decided to put all profit in Chennai, where they were adopting only 100% natural quality, Which gave them a huge loss of Rs 10lakh

· Their success story didn’t end here

· In 2012 when traditional manufacturing failed to match our business, company collaborated with German company to develop a machine worth making 4500kg's of batter per hour

· In the same year they started expansion in Hyderabad and Mumbai which were perfect success

· The very next year they took from Kerala to Dubai and now the growth is expected to touch 500cr

OUTCOMES

Innovation
There are so many innovative ideas they came up with but the most interesting innovation was made for Vada, coffee and coconut

Vada: The big deal to make Vada is to make hole in the middle which is difficult so id came up with the squeeze and fry vada batter by using which we can make hole easily

Filter coffee: They have come up with filter coffee decoction which makes filter coffee instantly

Coconut: Smart-sip tender coconut, they gave a small hole to insert the straw and a bigger hole to scoop out the pulp

User satisfaction:

· Speed-ID produces and deliver fresh food to the customers every single day.

· Simplicity-ID are a lean, efficient organization that makes quick decisions and are easy to do business with.

·

Ola is an Indian multinational ride-sharing company based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Launched in 2010 by Bhavish Aggarwal and Ankit Bhati, Ola bridges the gap between cab owners and commuters.

How it started: Bhavish initially had an online site called olatrip.com that offered holiday packages. Once when he was travelling from Bangalore to Bandipur, he rented a car. The ride experience was really bad - the driver stopped in the middle and demanded an extra payment. And then left him in the middle of the journey when Bhavish refused to pay more. Bhavish then realized that people all over India probably went through similar situations and recognised the need for quality cab services and a safe journey for the customers.

Over the years, Ola has been improving their services by keeping both its customers and employers in mind. Sometimes Ankit had to code for 48 hours straight while Bhavish had to ride the cab himself and complete the cab booking. A major problem they faced was networking connectivity issues. They understood that most of their customers would not have access to good internet and back then, only 2G connection was common. Hence, they developed an app that could easily be used on the 2G network. Ola also understood that different customers had different needs. It began to offer different types of taxis, autos and two-wheelers to choose from depending on the number of travellers, budget, and convenience.

Ola has also thought from the perspectives of their drivers. They gave them a variety of options:
Drive Your Car – connect your car with a transport networking company like Ola and provide this service to customers to earn money.
Placing a driver in your car – Useful for new car rental services, where you own a car and you want to earn extra profit by renting it out.
Driver with a partner – for when you know how to drive a car, but you do not have your car. Ola will provide the facility to take a car on lease.

Ola also announced location, mapping innovations to improve customer experience, and launched three features on its app to build an incredible experience for customers and driver-partners.
1.	Ola hotspots - keeping hotspots like tech parks, housing colonies, malls, and public spaces etc. which have multiple entry and exit points in mind, Ola now provides more detailed information regarding your exact drop or pick up point
2.	Snap to historic pickup - uses a customer's past rides as a reference point while triangulating the user's current pick-up/drop point, especially when the map can be inaccurate.
3.	Share directions - allows customers to 'Share Direction' with their drivers, provide them instructions or guide them with the help of landmarks.

Ola also offers different options for travellers. 'Ola outstation' to travel outside the city, 'Ola rentals' to rent cab on an hourly basis, and 'Ola select' a membership program that offers premium benefits on rides and many others. Carpooling with other customers is also an option.

Considering Ola's HCD story and principles, it is no surprise that a simple start-up in Bangalore has made its way all over India and has even found its place in countries like New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

References:
https://startuptalky.com/startup-story-ola/
https://www.businesskhabar.com/business/how-to-earn-money-by-doing-business-with-ola/
https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/ola-announces-location-mapping-innovations-to-improve-customer-experience-116093000341_1.html

Team Name: Sirius

Team Members:

Vinamratha Pattar
BL.EN.U4CSE19145
CSE

Lavanya Ratna Sirisha Munduri
BL.EN.U4CSE19076
CSE

Bhavana Chekuri
BL.EN.U4CSE19014
CSE

Malli Amarkanth
BL.EN.U4ECE19095
ECE

Bariki Varshitha
BL.EN.U4EAC19004
EAC

Mining to extract minerals was one of the hardest jobs in the US in the early 19th century. The work of miners was extremely hard and they had to work hard for hours together in harsh conditions. The miners could not find the right outfit for them that could be strong enough for work in the mines. They needed something really durable for the conditions they worked in. On coming across this issue, Levi, a young tailor from Germany who was working in San Francisco came up with a solution.

Levi Strauss was a German-born American businessman, who came to the USA for business opportunities. He is today known as the founder of Levi Strauss & Co., popularly known as Levi’s. Levi analyzed the miner’s problem and developed trousers out of the canvas. Canvas was popularly used for tents in those days, being a tough textile. However the canvas was rather heavy and stiff and hence uncomfortable.

As Levi had figured out the disadvantages of canvas, he had to look for other textile materials which satisfied the needs of the miners. Soon, he found a heavy textile from France named serge de Nimes which translated to a durable twilled woollen or worsted fabric from Nimes. Americans just called this de Nimes, and this name soon got reduced to denim.

Denim being lighter and stronger than canvas was ideal for miners. But denim still had a drawback, its colour. Original denim jeans were white in colour, which would often get dirty when worn by the miners, and cleaning it was quite a task. And thus Levi Strauss decided to colour them, and he chose dark blue, as it would not highlight most of the dirt and dust present in the mines. These denim pants were further customized to the miners incorporating metal rivets which made them stronger.

Once such copper riveted denim jeans which had become highly popular was the levis 501.

Levi's jeans were so popular that his company got bigger and bigger. It was extremely popular among miners and cowboys as they required sturdy clothing that could withstand heavy wear and tear. These jeans had a heavy impact even during poverty. These pants started out as a working man’s pants that were either an engineer, farmer, miner, or railroad employee. These were not the types of jobs the rich were doing, so the jeans became a staple for the poor/middle class. The entertainment industry was booming with popular culture’s impacts on Americans through magazines, movies, and rock ‘n’ roll music.	After the Second World War, jeans became popular all over the world. Today, blue jeans are manufactured all over the world – most of them in Asia. Today there are hundreds of different brands of jeans. Top fashion brands, like Armani or Benetton, design their own blue jeans. But Levi’s is still the most popular brand when it comes to real authentic jeans.

Sources:
https://linguapress.com/intermediate/blue-jeans.htm
https://bluejeans.umwblogs.org/impact-on-america-2/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levi_Strauss

Team Name: Auxilus

Team Members:

Karan Singh Bagga, Roll No. : BL.EN.U4CSE19062, Dept.: CSE

K Sukha, Roll No. : BL.EN.U4CSE19059, Dept.: CSE

Jangam Vaijanath: Roll no.: BL.ENU4ECE19062; Dept.: ECE

M S Yashwanth, Roll No.: BL.EN.UECE19105: , Dept.: ECE

Jayavarman B A, Roll No. : BL.EN.U4EAC19023, Dept.: EAC

Sal khan, a financial analyst, was teaching mathematics to one of his cousins Nadia. Since Nadia was in New Orleans, and Sal was in Boston working at a hedge fund at the time, Sal started tutoring her through the phone and Yahoo Doodle after work. As Nadia improved in maths, he started getting more requests from his other cousins for teaching, And soon, he had a bunch of students whom he was teaching. After some time, he realized that this was a big issue, and his work is really benefiting students, so he finally decided to start a YouTube channel, a place where students from anywhere around the world could access his lectures and learn. Soon after this, sal's channel Khan Academy started booming with popularity, with 10s of millions of views just in the first few years. He then quit his job in 2009 and started working on Khan academy with his friend josh gefner. The videos of Khan academy became so popular among students as well as non-students

They then received their first sponsorship from Ann doer. In September 2010, Khan Academy received large grants from Google ($2 million) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ($1.5 million) and began to build out an organization.

The main attraction of Khan academy is 'Free Education'. It was able to give lectures and explain topics in a fun and interesting way, and that started drawing more and more people. Also, Khan Academy's lectures are designed in such a way that it covers a broad spectrum of students, whether it be the ones who want basic knowledge or the ones who want some high-level content. At the time when khan academy was launched, people used to pay for learning specific topics or subjects. That trend has now increased a lot, now we can often see a lot of educators giving free knowledge on YouTube and other platforms.

Citation/Source:
https://support.khanacademy.org/hc/en-us/articles/202483180-What-is-the-history-of-Khan-Academy-

https://support.khanacademy.org/hc/en-us/articles/202260264-How-is-Khan-Academy-effective-and-different-from-other-resources-

Sal Khan - Wikipedia

Team Name: Dhiyom

Team Members:

Name: Daibaan Mukherjee
Roll: BL.EN.U4CSE19032
Dept: CSE

Name: Avinash S
Roll: BL.EN.U4ECE19010
Dept: CSE

Name: Sahil Singh
Roll: BL.EN.U4MEE19041
Dept: MEE

Name: Vivek Vardhan
Roll: BL.EN.U4EEE19023
Dept: EEE

Name: Adithya S
Roll: BL.EN.U4ECE19002
Dept: ECE
