         <description><![CDATA[<div>The learners have shown a good grasp of some of the fundamental movement skills needed for this scheme. They have worked on jumping, landing and core strength during their HRA model, things which will greatly enhance their chances of success in this scheme. They have shown a willingness to work together and help each other. The learners have greatly improved the key skills of junior cycle, and have shown a great ability to reflect on their learning and implement the necessary steps to improve. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>No student in the class is currently active in gymnastics outside of the PE hall. Some may have participated when they were younger. The students  have been exposed to this in first year, or even primary school. Many students will have seen gymnastics on television during the Olympic Games. <br><br>The students have this year completed modules in HRA, ultimate Frisbee, Olympic Handball, Athletics and Basketball, and have a good knowledge of what is required for them to become literate and competent participants of physical activity. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The majority of students have displayed a good attitude towards PE class to date. Some students however, need to be kept away from each other when working in groups in order to keep them focussed on the task at hand. One student has displayed a total lack of interest in PE, while one student has shown to be a little self conscious in the PE class. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gymnastics is a fast growing sport that is becoming increasingly popular in Ireland. The learners get the opportunity to have fun and be active in a way that is challenging and also new to a lot of them. Ballincollig gymnastics is club located less than a mile from the school and membership is increasing year on year. The school also has the facilities and equipment available to successfully run this module. Gymnastics is also a great way for students to work on their strength, endurance, balance and coordination. Students will also get the chance to work with their peers and to express their creative side by putting together a routine at the end of the module. The below video outlines some of the many benefits associated with gymnastics <br><br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtRRglnQe2c">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtRRglnQe2c</a> <br><br>The cooperative learning model was chosen for gymnastics as it is a "successful learning strategy in which small teams, each with students of different levels of ability, use a variety of learning activities to improve their understanding of a subject" (Johnson, Johnson, and johnson-Holubec, 1998). In this instance, the  groups in which the students will perform their routines will act as the teams. Their is quite a range of ability levels in this class, and for these reasons I felt that the Cooperative Learning Model  would be a perfect fit. <br><br>As well as this, `the learning outcomes outlined by Luttrell &amp; Chambers (2013), for this model run concurrent with what we should aim to achieve from a gymnastics module. These include, but are not limited to, contributing to a group, taking ownership of a task, reflecting on individual and group contribution, and working closely with other members  of the group. These outcomes also allow for students to cater the key skills of junior cycle as outlined by the NCCA in 2014<br><br>Overall, I feel that the similarities between the learning outcomes of gymnastics and of the cooperative learning model mean that these two perfectly intertwine with each other</div>]]></description>

         <title>Organisation of the Learning Experience </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Each class will be held in the gym. Before the class begins, a roll will be called. This will be followed by other housekeeping duties such as notes, illness/injury check, phones and jewellery box etc.  Students will then be asked to position themselves in front of the learning wall in a way that they can all see and hear me. The class will begin by introducing the learning outcomes and showing videos of what will be practiced in the class. There will also be a recap on the previous lesson. The lessons will begin with a fun and engaging warm up that will introduce the skills that will be taught in the lesson. The main body of the lesson will focus on introducing the key skills and demonstrating them to students, ensuring that they are able to competently and safely perform these skills. Students will then get the opportunity to work together throughout each lesson. At the end of every class, the students will reflect on what they learned and how they contributed to the class.</div><div> </div>]]></description>
