What is Padlet?

It a virtual bulletin or discussion board where not only teachers and students but also any team can share ideas videos and upload links to collaborate

Buttons and features

The first thing I tried to do after singing up is creating a new padlet. After creating a new padlet I tried to choose between different layouts. Then I clicked on the pencil button in the right corner where I can add a post. The box of the new post is having different features below like adding a picture, a link, search google, add location also you can link it to one of other padlets you have already created. In the top right corner there is an feature called modify where you can add a title to your padlet.

Advanced features

Click on “remake” on the top right. It allows you to copy and paste the same padlet you already created but without comments. It can be useful if you have multiple classes and you need to assign the same discussion. Also there is another feature on the top right “share”. It allows you to invite another teacher into your discussion board. You can also edit privacy settings to make your padlet public for everyone or make it private and only people with the link can access it. Also you can allow students to create posts or just comment on your post

Pricing plans

There are two upgrading plans. Monthly plan for 8 dollars and Annual plan for 96 dollars. This is for creating unlimited padlets and uploading files 25x the free plan

I think it’s a very nice virtual tool. Giving you a blank page and allows you to design it however you want to. Give access to whoever you want. I loved how it can encourage collaboration by allowing students to share and discuss their ideas. Plus I think it is a useful digital tool for differentiation. However it’s only limited for discussion that teacher’s cannot fully depend on it for teaching.

A lot of schools and universities are using it worldwide. It helps the teacher to check the students’ blogs and comments and encourage the students to write, read and listen via blogging. I find it a bit hard to use but I am very curious to learn more about wordpress and how I can use it for educational purposes.

This is not the first time I use Padlet, so I am slightly familiar with it. Padlet, according to its website, is "a software people use to make and share content with others." However, there are a number of advantages and disadvantages.

On the one hand, Padlet is quite user-friendly. If you are familiar with Facebook or Twitter, it will be accessible for you. It also supports many kinds of file types, which caters for users' different needs and expectations. Instead of using specific websites that support a limited amount of file formats, Padlet offers a platform that supports a broad range of users. Furthermore, it offers a private and a controlled environment. The padlet creator can control who accesses these padlets through a number of options. Moreover, Padlet supports differentiated instruction. If students are allowed to participate on a padlet using videos, voice recordings, written texts, photos, or drawings, then this a differentiated form of product that will encourage students to interact the way they prefer.

On the other hand, it costs money, and the basic plan offers 3 padlets only. The old padlets can be deleted and replaced with new padlets, but this may not be suitable if one is teaching more than one class. In addition, Padlet may be inaccessible by younger elementary students, especially those below the age of 8 or 9.

So, every one can easily post his thoughts and ideas and blog the concepts he has whether privately or to the public. For the pricing system, Padlet offers two kinds of memberships; the first (BASIC) one that is free for all users and provides a standard support with only three padlets of 10MB files only while the other (PRO) provides the priority support of unlimited padlets of 250MB of files and folders.

What I like in Padlet is the unlimited colourful posts shared by many people and that makes the interface of the wall so attractive and interesting . The shared items look like sticky notes that organized in a neat, fancy layout. Also, it's easy for the wall users to create, moderate, remove posts and constantly manage their board.

What i dislike in Padlet is sharing inappropriate content to all users on the site and browsing walls that can turn up materials that are not suitable for children.

Padlet is a collaboration tool with three different versions. Sign up to all versions is free but there are payment plans afterwards except for the Basic version. The business plan (briefcase) starts from $12 monthly with a 30days trial period, the school version (backpack) stars from $12 monthly as well. The personal plan which is the one I explored has two plans the free (Basic) and paid (Pro)which says $8 monthly but when I clicked on the option for upgrade I saw $10 monthly and $98 (20% off) annual fee.My search for padlet on google took me to the signup page where I was prompted to sign up with my google account, Microsoft account or log in with Apple. I signed up and created an account then signed into padlet which took me to the option of membership type. The Basic (free forever, limited to 3 padlets, 10mb files and standard support) and the Pro which offers unlimited padlets, 250mb files, priority support and folders. I choose the Basic. There was a warm welcome message about being beautiful I guess from the “I am beautiful” box I ticked at sign in point. There are different options on the screen on the top were listed options like “Make a Padlet, Join a Padlet, Gallery Upgrade” and to the left “Recents, Made, Shared, Liked, Archived and New Folder”. The only active link was the gallery (this is because I didn’t have contents in the others) where I could see different padlets posted by the community which could be opened and explored according to interests with options to rate or like. I went ahead to click on make a padlet, I had a dropdown box of different styles options where each would display the contents posted in different layout e.g the wall would display contents in a brick layout, canvas which scatters but connects the posts and stream which runs a top to bottom display. I choose the wall layout believing it would be best to display the cakes my daughter bakes. The padlet came with a nice title and description which I changed to reflect what I intended to post, I chose an appropriate icon which is a cupcake, changed the address, icon and appearance. Turned on attribution in order to display my name as the author this is because I read that without this, posts are tagged anonymous. I turned on comments and reactions which I set at like. I changed the wall display, uploaded and titled some of my daughter’s cake pictures. https://padlet.com/buthinabw/lilycious Considering the fact that I have never used it before today, Padlet is super easy to navigate and manipulate. It has, not so many but very effective tools, user friendly interface with the option prompts self-explanatory on the dashboard. I like that I could add video, music, pictures and text to my padlet, as well as emoticons and icons. It is quite easy to share, delete, edit and modify everything about the post, remake a padlet without actually going step by step by just clicking on remake and copy design and submit. I like that I can either share directly to social media handles or just copy the URL and send or embed in another blog or site. The only downside I noticed was that pictures take a while to upload but I am not sure if it’s the norm or this was due to my internet connection. I already love the ease and multifunctional use of padlet and would recommend it to anyone even children.

WordPress is an interactive website used for blogging, creating websites and collaboration. It is free but some features like Calendly, extra storage space, premium support if needed has to be paid for singularly or upgrade to a package with special features. The different plans offered are; Personal at $4, Premium at $8, Business at $25 and Ecommerce at $45 monthly ( https://wordpress.com/pricing/ ). Signing up for WordPress is regular like other sites with an email user name and password but upon signing up following the class invite,, I was already allocated and following 4 sites with option to unfollow. Other sites/posts are also recommended based on popularity, with option to follow. WordPress has a lot of posts and I like the that I can find the genre/related posts by just entering a key word after which I scroll down, click open and read or follow. I also like that I can choose to search by relevance or date posted which helps get the latest and trending post about a subject. I found some interesting DIY kids craft activities this way. To the left of the homepage, I can check on followed sites, update on ongoing conversations I’m involved in, discover daily selections of best contents, have access to my liked posts and tags which I discovered is an easy way to check a regular topic of interest without typing in each time. I went on to explore my class site. There was statistics showing how many and how often the page was viewed, comments, media and tools. went on to the “Write” option at the top right corner of the homepage. Apart from “Preview” and “Publish”, there were icons instead of word labels for the tools here which was confusing and I had to do a lot of guess and tryouts. Here, I discovered I could create documents with numerous layout options like paragraphs, images, heading, audio, quotes and links. I could allow or block comment, pings or trackbacks which I like a lot. I could upload files, documents and images which I could adjust size, insert descriptive text but could not crop (which I didn’t like). It enables podcasts, player and so many audio and visual media files. Under blocks there are so many options that could be used for a document, tools for text formatting, star for ratings, page layout, navigation and widgets. It is possible to embed posts from other social media handles by adding the URL, it allows onsite trading, advertisement and promotion of goods services on site and of one’s other blogs and websites on other social media handles.Visibility of posts could be made public or private and best of all, there is a password protected option where access to post is allowed to only viewers with password ( https://lilycioustreats.wordpress.com/2020/05/19/catalogue-of-lilycious-treats/ ) The password for this is auc515..WordPress is very versatile, moderately easy to navigate but contains too many tools most of which are identified by icons making it cumbersome confusing and sometimes downright difficult to grasp as a beginner.

Google Doc Tool Report

Google doc is an online collaboration tool compatible with android, Apple, web app and chrome extension.  It has two versions, the personal which is free with no limit on number of documents but on size of file and the business version called G. Suite which further has 3 paid plans, the Basic plan at $6, the Business plan at $12 and the Enterprise at $25 monthly. Each has a unique distinguishing factor or added advantage feature. If you have a google account all you need to do is click on the google apps bricks like symbol by your top right screen, scroll down the drop-down menu, amongst the google apps you’ll find Docs however and I like this fact that you do not need a google account to view or even edit a google document as long as the author set the document to allow it. I clicked on the document and went exploring. Here is what I discovered can be done with it;

· You can search for all files or documents at the search bar with the option to filter by ownership e.g. owned by me, not owned by me.

· There are numerous ready made templates to pick from for resumes, letters, projects, brochures, education formats, reports and essays.

· Find existing files in your device by using the file picker icon on the end of the right side of the home page after the template.

· You can create attach files, links, images, audio video to a document. Open and edit previous documents as well.

· The document creator has the properties or features of Microsoft word which made it easy for me and I am sure any other word user to navigate even as a beginner. I could say it’s the online version but better because of the ability to interact with others real-time (by sharing the document through a link, adding emails of participants or groups) and also make the document available offline.

· Documents saves on google drive as its being created so there’s no fear of losing a document because one forgot to save and can also be moved to an old or new file on the device.

· The calendar feature is also awesome. It comes preloaded with national and global events and one can add, schedule an event with location, add google video meet conferencing, and notifications

· It is easy to remove or delete documents

· It can adequately be used for active interaction of students and feedback through the comment section and learning through the built in research tools like explore and dictionary found under “tool”.

I like all of the above possible usage of the google Doc and I am certain there are more. I am yet to find a downside or something I do not like about it.

Realtimeboard started as an online whiteboard tool that supports interaction between many users at a time, realtime. In order to keep up with evolving needs of its users and community, it has been rebranded to Miro.

Miro has two classes of user packages. The free and the paid package. There are 4 paid packages which are; Team which costs either $8 monthly billed annually or $10 paid monthly fee, the Business at $16 per month billed annually, the Enterprise which the office has to be contacted for pricing as which depends on user needs and the forth is the Consultant which is $12 monthly billed annually or $15 paid monthly. Each package has its unique difference based on the minimum number of team members or users required, editable boards, board sharing capability, multiteam setup, external auditors and such.

At the start up or login page, one can sign in either with a Google, Facebook, Slack or Office 365 account. One can also sign in or access the site with a single sign on (SSO) credentials from an enterprise.

I signed in with my gmail account and was asked to set up a team consisting of different number of members ranging from just 1 (me) to other group numbers ending at 5k+ (unlimited number of team members). Basically you sign in, invite team members and pick or create a template (paid version) to start working. Members can be invited through link, shared in work messenger or sent through emails and contrary to what one may think because of the default google and slack account advertised to invite members, one does not need to have a google or slack account to be invited or have access as a team member because I was able to invite myself from a non-google or slack account and was able to access the board.

On the homepage there are a lot of predesigned templates to chose from depending on the kind of project you want to work on e.g. mind map for ideas and brainstorming, brainwriting for meetings and workshop customer persona for research and design.

I tried working on two, the mind map and later the brainwriting and realized;

Pros:

· Signing up and in is basic and easy.

· The free version has a minimum of 1 to unlimited number of team members.

· The app has the basic text, drawing, emoticons, document creation tools and a lot of others used to input data on the template picked.

· Boards are created like in padlet so, would be familiar to one already using padlet.

· Projects or boards created links can be shared via emails.

· Boards created can be deleted but with confirmation from your registered email which I an added security.

· The app can be installed on handheld devices which makes on the go access easy.

· Can be used for real-time collaboration with inputs from other team members.

Cons:

· Interface is not user friendly.

· Most of the input tools icons were without labels.

· The in-app tools were not easy to understand or manipulate as a first-time user.

· Can’t create a personal template without an upgrade while predesigned free templates looked too complicated to me.

· On free plan everyone invited is able to have access to all your boards not just the one they were invited to view.
Conclusion:
It is not beginner user friendly.

is basically google version of Microsoft word, teachers use it mostly to create quizzes, assignments, worksheets or tests and to share alot of stuff with their students, however its better than Microsoft in many points:
*its a cloud based tool
you can use it from any device, and its accessible anywhere you want.
*easy collaborations
* you can choose to make ur docs totally accessible by anyone or only some ppl or no one at all.
*you can edit and share any of ur documents and have open discussions.
*although its a cloud based tool but also all ur docs can be downloaded on ur pc or laptop.

The only disadvantage i faced is the uploading and downloading takes alot of time.

It’s formerly known as Real-time board and now is called miro. It’s a virtual whiteboard for a teacher that can be used for mapping out a lesson and add media, sticky notes, and hyperlinks. It is used by 48% of universities 42% of schools and 10 % of colleges
Pros
Can be a useful tool for visual explanation and group discussion
Gives free access to the public educational institutions which allow them screen sharing, 3 GB storage space, real-time collaboration.
It’s the closest tool to the substantial whiteboard we are using in the actual class which makes it easy for the teacher to add any kind of content plus it integrates with google drive. It can be used for various team activities.
I personally loved how you can zoom out to see the bigger picture which helps the students to relate all the info together.
It is a user-friendly tool actually very friendly. It provides different format like mind mapping and flowchart also providing different cases that can actually help you accomplish your target
I really enjoyed the thorough explanation of each feature provided in the pricing plans and how they hyperlinked most of them for further definition
Cons
It seems that the free plan is not that effective. Because the online interaction is missing in the free plan. You have only 3 free editable boards. You must upgrade to have access to an unlimited number of boards and give others access to comment and edit

Google Docs
In my opinion, Google Docs is a great tool that can be used by teachers. I personally have been using it for quite some time. Of course, like any tool, there are a number of advantages and disadvantages. However, the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages.
The advantages include the following:
1- Collaboration
Teachers and students can work on a project simultaneously from home. All they need is a good internet connection to access the Google Docs.
2- Voice typing
The voice typing feature is a fun yet neglected feature. If students are bored of writing or in the mood to try a new way of expressing their thoughts, they can use this feature.
3- No need to save
Most of us at least experienced the heartbreak of losing a document because we forgot to click the save button. With Google Docs, this is not a problem at all provided that you have a good internet connection.
4- Suggestion mode
The suggestion mode is an awesome feature that can be used to highlight certain parts and ask questions about it or provide suggestions to change or improve it.
5- Revision history
We can check who edited or added which parts provided that each person has a Gmail account.
6- Conference call
This is not a basic feature in Google Docs. However, it can be easily added using Uber Conference add-on. Using that feature can ease the process of editing as it is done simultaneously while participating in a conference call.
7- Easy to learn
Last but not least, it is accessible by anyone who knows how to use Microsoft Word. They share most of the features, fonts, formats, and toolbar buttons.
Disadvantages of Google Docs:
1- Hard to use by kids
I think Google Docs would be efficiently used by 4th graders and up. However, it would be hard for lower elementary students.
2- Stable Internet
A good internet connection is a must to use Google Docs. Due to a bad connection, changes might not be saved. If there is no internet at all, you will not access the document you created.

This is the first time I use Real-time Board, and I must say I am impressed. I will list the pros and cons below.

The pros include the following:

1- Accessibility

It is quite accessible and easy to navigate through the website. It took me a few minutes to get the hang of how it works as it is similar to other programs that I encountered in the past.

2- Collaboration

Real Time Board serves as a great means of collaborating with others. You can share your screen with others to highlight certain points as well as can monitor each person's screen if you are working simultaneously. In addition, there is a feature that allows you to video chat with the ones whom you shared your board with. You can also tag others and write comments for them to see. Furthermore, there is an activity button that shows who edited/changed what. All these features can prove useful when working on collaborative projects.

3- Unlimited Space

A single board gives you unlimited space to use, which can be organized in frames. The first thought that came to mind upon encountering that feature was to work with my students on an extensive project that would take months, for example, to finish. If the project is divided into phases, which it should, they will all be in one board. This feature can show me the progress that has been made in the project every step of the way.

4- Variety of Add-ons

Depending on your kind of work, you can add other add-ons that you deem useful. These add-ons include voting plugins, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Prezi, Microsoft Office, etc.

The cons include the following:

1- It costs money

The free version does include many of the aforementioned features; however, you can only have 3 boards only at a time, just like Padlet. Thus, if you are teaching more than one subject or class, this issue will be troublesome. Also, many of the add-ons cost money.

2- Kids might need some time to learn how to use it

The students, especially the younger ones, will need an orientation session to teach them how to navigate the website. I personally doubt that they can learn how to use it independently, but I might be mistaken.

Google Slide Tool Report
Google slides is a free presentation and collaboration program embedded within google drive services. It can be accessed on internet enabled devices e.g. on android by downloading and installing the app from Playstore, Apple devices by downloading the app from Appstore and a computer by going to slides.google.com, drive.google.com or if you are already on a google screen, click on the multi brick like icon beside the picture box on the top right hand corner of the screen and scroll down the apps to get to slides then click on it. I used this last method because I am already signed into google on my computer. Whichever method you use will take you to the homepage where you can click on “New” or “Blank” to start a new presentation or you can choose one of the existing templates. On the home page I found other presentations I had saved on my device so I had the option to open those too.
I opened a new document worked around with the tools, opened some files and edited some and here is what I learnt.
•	Google Slides has a lot of similarities to PowerPoint. In fact, I think one who has working knowledge of PowerPoint can easily navigate and work with Google Slides.
•	There are multiple types of presentation templates and themes one can choose from, combine or create to use for one’s slides or presentation.
•	You can import saved slides which can be further modified if created by you.
•	It can be used to create presentations via text, insert lines, shapes graphs.
•	Page size/ratio, can be adjusted
•	Links, images, audio, video can also be inserted from certain apps.
•	You can animate your images for presentation.
•	The document created can be modified from the tool bar at the top which like other word documents has fonts, size, style, alignment, color and all.
•	One very helpful tip I learnt was, in order to have uniform slides and to avoid modifying each slide as you add, go to view, click on master and modify it as you want your documents to be this will affect every other slide in the presentation.
Likes
•	Real time collaboration with others.
•	Files can be shared with the preferred access option to view, edit or comment.
•	When accessing another person’s slide, you can view only you need ask permission of a slide owner to be an editor (though you can copy and use).
•	With prior knowledge of PowerPoint or word documents, its pretty easy to navigate and apply.
Did not find a peculiar disadvantage so far.

This is the first time I try this website, and I absolutely love it. Its pros definitely outweighs its cons, in my point of view.

Pros

1- Perfect for distance/online learning

Playposit can be quite efficient when we are distance-teaching. Usually when I play videos in my class, I pause to ask concept checking questions. That has not been possible, of course, since the lockdown began. Playposit gives you the opportunity to ask the students questions while they are watching a video at home.

2- Easy to upload or embed videos and add interactions

It didn't take me a lot of time to add interactions to a video I chose from YouTube. These interactions can be in different forms, which include multiple choice, fill in the blanks, free response, poll, etc. In addition, you will find ready-made interaction templates for you to use.

3- Provides the teacher with individual feedback

When I ask concept checking questions in class, all students are addressed and only one or two students answer. It is only when I conduct formative assessments that I know who did or did not grasp the new concept. Using Playposit, you can ensure that ALL students will participate, and, by tracking their answers, you can check if they understand the taught concepts or not.

4- Excellent for young learners

For younger students, instead of typing questions, you can use voice notes, photos, videos for both the questions and the answers, making it a whole lot easier pre-k students or students who have trouble reading in general.

Cons

1- Premium features require payment

Using a free account, you can have up to 100 responses/attempts per month. If, for example, you have a class that comprises 20 students (and each student is only allowed one attempt in each video), this means you can only create up to 5 interactive videos per month. Once you upgrade, you have unlimited number of attempts. Moreover, Playposit announced that the feature of live broadcast will be coming soon for premium users, which can be very beneficial for online/distance learning. There are a number of plans depending on the number of users. The pro plan used only by one teachers costs 12$ a month.

I have used Google Slides a few times in the past, but I would not call myself an expert. I played with it a little bit and used most of its feature. Below are listed the pros and cons.

Pros

1- Quite similar to Microsoft PowerPoint

It is accessible by anyone who knows how to use Microsoft PowerPoint. They share most of the features, fonts, formats, and toolbar buttons.

2- Excellent for collaboration

Teachers and students can work on a project simultaneously from home. All they need is a good internet connection to access the Google Slides. Team members can also comment on each other's work and resolve comments when checked.

3- No need to save

Most of us at least experienced the heartbreak of losing a document because we forgot to click the save button. With Google Docs, this is not a problem at all provided that you have a good internet connection.

4- Embed YouTube videos

It is not possible to embed YouTube videos on Google Drive. Therefore, as a solution, you can embed YouTube videos into Google Slides and save them to your Google Drive.

5- Excellent for interactive games

I found many templates online for interactive games, such as Jeopardy and Tic-Tac-Toe. I made my own version of Jeopardy using a ready-made template. A link is provided below.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ctwzxHVVhSJUVurakXd53qiMJbJ5BMYzFQAjkfrQN9w/edit?usp=sharing

6- Create an interactive presentation

With the Q&A feature, a question will pop up when a certain slide is reached to answer a question and then proceed to the following slides. This can be a great tool for formative assessments and to ensure that that your students are following along.

7- Voice typing

The voice typing feature is a fun yet neglected feature. If students are bored of writing or in the mood to try a new way of expressing their thoughts, they can use this feature.

8- Access to plenty of add-ons

Google Slides grants you access to a huge number of add-ons, most of which are free. With these add-ons, we can maximize our benefit from Google Slides, creating versatile presentations.

Cons

1- Challenging for kids

I think Google Slides would be efficiently used by 4th graders and up. However, it would be challenging for lower elementary students.

2- Stable Internet

A good internet connection is a must to use Google Slides. Due to a bad connection, changes might not be saved. If there is no internet at all, you will not access the document you created.

3- Videos cannot be uploaded directly from pc/phone

If you want to upload a personal video to Google Slides, you have to upload it to your Google drive and import it from there. Other than that, you can easily embed videos from Vimeo or YouTube using URL.

While the class was on, I navigated around the board and found out that the teacher can do the following (which I do like);

· Add more activity slides while session is ongoing, add resources from the web, add true or false or open-ended questions, add tool enabled drawings,

· The teacher can change to student view,

· Hide students name when sharing the answers with the class,

· Share board could be shared through email, social media handles and link,

· See a list of number and names (if included) of participants,

At the end of the lesson I explored the function of the report menu on the tools bar and I got a nearpod post-session report in PDF format attached (sent to the mail which I signed up through) of the session which included lesson title, slide author, teacher, date, time, number of students, participation of students and marks for the quizzes.

nearpod was not as easy for me to navigate or understand like Kahoot which I previously explored today but I like a lot of its features. In addition to the ones I mentioned I also like that

·

· The free Silver package though basic can be used considerably to maximize learning and can be used to integrate technology in the children’s learning experience

· Can be used for homework and classroom work.

· Can be used as a source for feedback

· Can easily be uses for assessment

· It is collaborative

· Videos can be embedded from YouTube, or uploaded videos from cloud storage account, Google Apps account, or from the computer/mobile device used.

· Audio files, songs podcast sounds can be added to lessons to make content exciting especially for younger students.n

Kahoot is an online game-based learning platform where educational games can be created, shared and assessed. It is designed to suit educational, other professionals and personal learning needs.

Kahoot has the Kahoot Basic service plan for all categories which is free and also has the paid subscription plans for schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations which are Pro, Premium and Premium+

The two plans broadly presented are:

1. Kahoot! at work for training, presentations, events and collaboration which has the Basic, standard priced at $10 per host/month billed annually, pro at $20 per host/month billed annually, premium priced at $40 per host/month billed annually then there is the Kahoot! 360 Pro, priced at $60 per host/month billed annually.

2. Kahoot at school. This category has the basic plan which is free, the Pro plan priced at $3 per teacher/month billed annually, the Premium plan priced at $6 per teacher/month billed annually, the Premium+ plan priced at $9 (a promo for $6 is running currently to end at 30th June)per teacher/month billed annually.

Most of the paid subscription packages have a 7days free trial, cancel at anytime option. The differences in these packages lie within the limits of the terms and conditions of use of some of the services e.g. restriction of commercial use, participants number, instant feedback option, access to image library, personalized and live games, slides between questions, adding pools, adding puzzles, mixing different question type in one game, editing premium ready to play game, importing slides from presentations, adding personalized logo, site license, tracking class learning with report and online priority support.

To access the Kahoot tool, go to www.kahoot.com or if you already have a game pin www.kahoot.it (this takes you directly to the game home page where you have to input a game pin to continue)

At sign up, there are four options, Teacher, Student, Personal, Professional. Each takes you to a sign up page where you put in personal details to continue.

For the purpose of this assignment I choose Teachers option which further lead me to 5 other sub categories. School, Higher Education, School Administration, Business and Others. Whichever you choose will take you to a sign-up page with the basic signup procedures like enter email and password. One can also sign in with an existing Google or Microsoft account.

Once signed in, a 2-minute video popped up which explained how to create a student paced Kahoot, set questions, set timers, share link, see results and play (I recommend you watch it if like me you do not know anything about the tool).

At the home page, you find a lot of bulletins and news about events, tool use and updates which is helpful to understand Kahoot better. You also find the following options on the top left menu bar

· Home: (which brings you back to the home page from wherever page you are on the application.

· Discover: where you find ready to play games on any topic that has been created.

· Kahoots: where you create, find your already created games, drafts, marked favorites and games shared with you.

· Reports: is where you see hosted games, live student paced challenge you assigned, reports, number of participants, individual result, general score percentage, name of host teacher, time used. Information gathered from this section can be used for assessment.

There is also the create, share, personal/profile settings and information menu at the right hand side of the top menu bar.

Conclusion

I have gone through the Kahoot platform and believe this tool is very exciting and I doubt there is a student that would not enjoy it. This can be used as a solution to engage withdrawn students. I like the fact that it can be played at home when the student is relaxed and in school as an exciting activity on the interactive board with all the students participating. Menus and tools are well labeled for easy navigation and use.

Thus far, Nearpod is one of the best and most effective tools I checked. Its pros outweigh its cons, in my opinion. Below is a list of pros and cons.

Pros
1- Increases interaction

Students actively participate during the lesson (in a classroom or remotely) and get the chance to respond in various ways. Nearpod can also gamify any assessment, making it more fun for the students.

2- Perfect for formative assessments

Teachers can use various assessments, which include multiple or open-ended questions, polls, matching pairs, etc., to get valuable feedback on student learning.

3- Differentiated instruction

Teachers can integrate videos, 3D shapes, simulations, and VR tours in their presentations. Teachers can also ask students to respond in many different ways, granting the teachers the chance to differentiate both content and process.

4- Real-time or non-real time

It is up to the teacher whether they want the students to interact simultaneously with the lesson or to access it any time (with the option of having a deadline).

5- Perfect for all students of all ages

You can customize an age-appropriate lesson using all the features mentioned above. I can imagine myself using it with any grade in any subject.

6- Gamify assessments

I have always been fond of stealth assessments despite the fact that I have never used them. Using gamified assessments is a way of assessing the students' knowledge without adding pressure on them.

Cons

1- Not all features are free

Unfortunately, some of the really good features are only available for premium users. The paid features include student-paced sessions, thousands of ready-made lesson plans, and student reports.

2- Website can be slow

The website can be slow and laggy, and so if the internet, for any reason, is slow, it can take a lot of time for a session to load.

Nearpod: It is a student engagement platform that can have a great impact on the learning process. So a teacher can create presentations and lessons for all grades that can contain Quiz’s, Polls, Videos, Images, Drawing-Boards, and Web Content and so on. Also, it works as an instructional platform that merges formative assessment and dynamic media for collaborative learning experiences. The children can access a teacher’s presentation through a code. The teacher can move the class through the presentation and let them interact with the media as they go. They can also opt for student-paced, where the student controls the flow of the lesson. The nice thing is that you can access your Nearpod account through any device that connects to the internet, run and create your presentations on a computer. Also, it enables you to connect with your students digitally. This connection happens in a flexible nature of Nearpod means that can be used in many different creative and innovative ways. In another way, it is a kind of technology-integrated learning environment that allows teachers to create presentations, interactive activities ,and assessments, organized in lessons. A number of formats are supported (e.g. text, power points, PDFs, pictures, videos, including some form of virtual reality (VR) lessons. Each of these can be inserted into a slide. Lessons exported to students can run as mobile applications or as web client. Student activities can be tracked so the teacher can see activity completion.

Kahoot: Kahoot is a game-based learning platform, used as educational technology in schools and other educational institutions. Its learning games, "Kahoots", are user-generated multiple-choice quizzes that can be accessed via a web browser or the Kahoot app. Kahoot can be used to review students' knowledge, for formative assessment or as a break from traditional classroom activities. Also it includes trivia quizzes.Additionally, Kahoot was designed for social learning, with learners gathered around a common screen such as an interactive whiteboard, projector, or a computer monitor. The site can also be used through screen-sharing tools such as Skype or Google Hangouts. The game design is such that the players are required to frequently look up from their devices. The game-play is simple; all players connect using a generated game PIN shown on the common screen, and use a device to answer questions created by a teacher, business leader, or other person. These questions can be changed to award points. The creator can choose, whether the player can get 0 points, up to 1000 or 2000. The points the player gets are calculated on up to how much can the player get and how long it takes the player to answer. The sooner the player answers, the more points they get if the player answers correctly. Points then show up on the leader-board after each question. The player can also get a streak, meaning they answered more questions in sequence. The better their streak is, the more points they get when answering a question correctly. Finally, Kahoot! has now implemented 'Jumble'. Jumble questions challenge players to place answers in the correct order rather than selecting a single correct answer. It offers a new experience that encourages even more focus from players. As it can be played through different web browsers and mobile devices through its web interface.

It was created and developed by a dedicated team of educators, researchers, and engineers from Gottesman Libraries at Teachers College Columbia University. On Vialouges website, it is said to be for teachers, instructors, lecturers, trainers, and tutors; filmmakers, animators, and graphic designers; musicians, dancers, and artists; athletes and sports fans; politicians and political pundits; news stations and journalists; historians and history buffs; anyone; everyone!

It is a combination of video and dialogue, it is a platform where videos are streamed and people discuss, comment, generally dialogue about the video. Access to Vialouges is free but I had to create an Edlab account to gain access.

On signing up, you can go right ahead to create your Vialouges or view existing collections posted by others. To the right side of the video, there are comments and discussions previously held about the video and beneath the video the user can post a comment/join in the discussion. On clicking more information box (to the top right of the screen, you have access to the title, provider, uploader of the video and all the Vialouges of the video. There is also the create, notification bell and settings box at the top right-hand side of the page.

Clicking create gives you the option to upload an original video, search for videos saved on your device, or link a video you want to post. It further affords you the option of giving it a title, putting down a description about the video, privacy permissions and allowing comments or not. When you are done, click on create to allow for dialogue.

To the middle right section of the screen, there is a feedback option where you can post an idea for others to subscribe to or discuss.

Quizlet has been my friend for a year now. I have used it throughout the whole academic year with my kids. I will list the pros and cons below.

Pros

1- Students revisit the lesson whenever they want

I always provide the parents and kids with the links to my lessons on Quizlet so they can study or review the lesson whenever they want or can, especially before summative assessments.

2- Gamifies quizzes

There are plenty of activities that are automatically created once you create a lesson on Quizlet. Some of these activities are traditional while are in the form of games, which gives the students the chance to study the way they prefer.

3- Differentiates instruction

There are 7 modes that are created automatically once you create a lesson on Quizzes, and they are: flashcards, learn, write, spell, test, match, and gravity. In some of these modes, the word and its definition can be pronounced for the students if they choose to listen. As mentioned above, Quizlet gives the students the chance to study the way they prefer.

Cons

1- Some of the features are for premium users

Like all websites, there are great features that are only accessible by premium users. However, of all the premium features, I only liked the student reports feature. The other features are might be useful for other teachers, but they are of no use to me.

2- Only suitable for the levels of remembering and understanding in Bloom's Taxonomy

Quizlet is not suitable for all types of lessons. It can only be used when you are teaching words and their definitions. It does not go beyond the lexical level. As an English teacher, it only was useful when I was teaching vocabulary and genres of literature.

Below is a link to one of my old lessons on Quizlet in case you want to check a sample.

https://quizlet.com/494216638/wonders-eld-grade-4-unit-32-flash-cards/

Before coming to class, you will have a strong idea of who actually watched the video, which will be beneficial for your lesson plan.

- Can be used for formative assessments

Teachers can monitor the discussion and check if students fully understand the topic or not. In addition, the discussion can give the teachers a specific idea if there are certain gaps that need to be bridged.

- Students can revisit the video and the discussion anytime

Students will have access to the video and the discussion and can revisit the page any time, be it for revision or recap before a new lesson.

- Excellent for higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy

Students will have to analyze the video, evaluate the content, and create their own response.

- Time-stamped comments

Time-stamped comments can be very useful. For example, if a student has a question, he/she can ask it at any time, and we will know which point exactly in the video caused the question to arise, given that he/she knows how to use this feature, of course.

- It's free

The website is absolutely free!

Cons

- Not suitable for early elementary students

I don't think that students below the age of 9 will be able to use the website efficiently.

I created a discussion on Vialogues if you are interested in participating.
https://www.vialogues.com/vialogues/play/58299/

MOOC: Where we can find the definition of (MOOC) model as a massive open online course for delivering learning content online to any person who wants to take a course, with no limit on attendance. Thou, these online courses are available to anyone with a computer and Internet connection as they offer students a way to learn in a setting similar to an online class, but are usually loosely structured and can be accessed without paying tuition or committing to an academic program. Hence, the MOOC creates a strong collaborative learning environment by providing easy access to global resources and giving opportunities for sharing ideas and knowledge. There is a variety of websites that support learning online in many fields. Once you start streaming on-demand video lectures from top instructors in subjects like business, computer science, data science, language learning, art and humanities, personal development, and many more that you can explore by oneself without any need to guidelines or consultation. Personally, I would like to share my experience that I have gained after enrolling in one of the online courses with Coursera.com that boosts the business skills and entitled with “Effective Communication: Writing, Designing, and Presentation Specialization” that builds the communication skill for professional successes and masters business writing, graphic design, and business presentation skills. The course was totally free and helped me much in my old business as I couldn’t be very professional in dealing with group members. The course taught me how to give mastered and attractive presentations that grab the attention and pique the curiosity. However, the language learning arts impress me more and I find it really interesting to learn new languages like Spanish or Italian. Yet, improving French meanwhile is more than a desire for stepping forward into my children education and helping them. So I’m striving in these main topics including basic expressions used in everyday life, such as greetings, introducing myself, talking about family and a daily life, and so on. As a beginner learner, I’m hopeful that this course would meet my expectation by giving me the chance in learning the basics and skills of any other language of: writing, reading, listening, and speaking. Therefore, the concept of being a longlife learner became active and vital for many students around the world for its significance and the benefits gained from it. As it builds the education and career professional as well as it grows the sense of self-initiated education. This system of learning motivates students to learn and develop because they want to: It is a deliberate and voluntary actions that can enhance the understanding of the world around, provide with more and better opportunities and improve personal skills. OER. The OER system is defined as ‘The Open Educational Resources’ which is freely accessible, openly licensed text, media, and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning, and assessing as well as for research purposes. Wikipedia. The list of benefits of OER is overstuffed for both students and teachers and varies between saving facilities costs, granting access to more quality choices, helping prior learning and after learning, and providing peace of mind for all users. For teachers, OER provides a multitude to choose from, including textbooks, courses, multimedia, data, and supplementary materials. These can be found by searching regular search engines (like Google) by using certain keywords but it is much easier to find them through dedicated OER repositories or websites. Trough my field experience, the open educational resources provided many platforms that enlightened me with sights and visions for creating an engaging classroom with technology, such as Khan Academy which presents a collection of instructional videos and practices exercises on topics including math, science, programming, history, English, economics, and standardized tests. Mainly, OER offers free access to almost all course-domain contents that benefit all users of teachers, students, and presented by professional scholars.

Vialogues: is considered an online tool that teachers can use to integrate their tradition, flipped or blended classrooms with Web media and technology through providing online videos that help to create discussions. These discussions make learning more interactive via the video content where students play while they’re recalling ideas and it would give all students an instant dialog about important concepts. Also, the fact that teachers can post questions to direct students' thinking toward crucial points of interest - and students can answer questions with the ability to comment on, not just what they're viewing, but on the content of what their peers have viewed. Additionally, they can edit comments, and the teacher can delete comments or evaluate a post before it is allowed to be posted. Simply, the added videos create active learning experiences and reinforce collaborative interaction and that all happens easily by curating a certain topic and resourced with a video or a link to students and invite them to watch its content. Teachers apply some comments, surveys, and multiple-choice questions to their discussion so students will interact creating conversations, giving their opinion and applying answers or questions about. Quizzlet: is an online study tool that helps students and teachers practice and master what they’re learning, saves time when helping students prepare for tests , and is found among teachers that they use it as an amazing free website that gives educational tools to students, including flashcards, for study and game modes. This tool works by designing the study sets with terms and definitions. Besides, copying and pasting images from another source, or using Quizlet's built-in auto-define feature to speed up the creating process. Additionally, users can find generated flashcard sets on the website with plenty of opportunities to evolve the studying procedures. Some pros are addressed in the ease of organizing into “study sets” that users like teachers or students add to their accounts. So students can log in and choose the appropriate study set for the concepts they need to review. These can be created by a teacher or generated by other users. Also it’s flexible and customized available, as Quizlet can be used in any grade level and any type of class. Overall, Quizlet can be a great tool for you and your students for three reasons: you can easily differentiate review for your students, you can incorporate collaboration and teamwork into your classes, and Students have another way to prepare for tests. However, some cons and drawbacks can impact the student’s learning like: students can get distracted by ads, they could learn incorrect information, or they may use Quizlet to cheat.
