I was very excited but also a little bit nervous in the morning. But now I am absolutely happy to be here, experience such a beautiful day. Someone like me was my favourite activity. I will definitely use it.
As for using online tools for writing classes, my thoughts are mostly positive about using digital tools, because students have different interests and digital tools are useful to get their interest and get them involved in the activities. So, it is a good way to use digital tools.
Writing is one of the most important language skill. But mostly we ignore this skill both in teaching mother language and foreign language. It is hard to acquire and develop this skill as it is a productive language skill. We can teach writing skill by using digital tools. By using pictures, adding emojies and text to their writing the students will be more eager to join the writing activities. I think the most important idea I have thought about today related to writing is to use Padlet. Students can writing their opinions about something and they can make comments, share their ideas about the topic, start a discussion etc.
My colleagues would be most interested in exploring in a PLC meeting focusing on writing is to use digital tools for writing activities. Many English teacher just ask their students to write a small dialogu or text about the topic they are learning which is boring for students. But using digital tools may get students attention.

I think, today we had the most exciting session. I learnt lots of things abıut making my own classes more enjoyable.
As for question 1, I don’t have difficulties when exploring something with my colleagues in PLC. We help each other when we explore activities. When one of us explore, the other one takes notes, makes videos. Moreover we share our opinions about the task, discuss the problem or the issue.
As for question 2, the learners have many challenges when they listen or speak English. I think the major challenge is lack of self confidence. Many Turkish people do not believe in themselves and they think learning a new language is very hard. The other challenges are being afraid of making mistakes in front of someone or everyone, being shy.
I guess the most useful idea is to use some digital tools like chatterpix. Because the new generation is born in a digital world and they are eager to use digital tools. The digital tools also give them a chance to share their videos and this may encourage them to improve their English.

1) What are your takeaways from today’s session on reading? Did anything surprise you? Is there anything you will try with your own classes?
- Actually I found reading activities boring until today’s session. Because when you read a text there may be lots of unknown words which demotive you as a şanguage learner. You may feel like your language is still poor. You realize that you have lots of things to learn. Thank to today’s session I gain a new point of view. What surprised me? is the idea to prepare a poster and make video related to the text you read. In this way you can make reading class more enjoyable. If I had a reading class with mu own students before this program, I would just make my students read the text and then anwer the questions etc. But now I know that I have many options to do with my students. I will definitely use these activities in my classes from now on. I will do my best to find out new ideas, activities to make my classes more enjoyable.

2) How do you feel about the fipped learning approach? How can you integrate it into your own teaching?
-To be honest, this approach is not good for my students. Because most of them do not have technological tools like smartphone, PC or tablet. Or they do not have internet connection. So, it may be hard to apply this approach. Moreover, irresponsible students will get more irresponsible. If I integrate this approach into my own teaching, I will deliver the students a text to read in advance. Ask them to prepare questions about the text. At school, we can discuss their questions and answer them. Then we can make Chatterpix pix on my cell phone , watch pix together. They can prepare a poster, make speech bubbles or comics.

Every day I learn new things to improve my teaching skills. Silent conversation is one of my favourite activities from today’s session. If I get into the class and do something without speech, I know my students will really get interested. And I will be able to arouse curiosity. It will work I know. I will do it as soon as I am back to school.

1) What is the value of coursebook listening activities?
Coursebook listening activities are time saving, handy activities for the teachers. They do not have the check content whether it is suitable for her/his students’ level, age. They are related to the structure which the teacher is supposed to teach. Teachers do not need to consume their time to explore listening activities for their students.

2) What is the value of authentic listening materials?
Authentic materials are really useful to teach different structures of language. The learners can learn real life situations. Language is alive. New word come into lifeand some words die. Via listening authentic listening activities the learner can learn the daily language, usage of the word. Authentic listening helps to teach the students slangs, idioms etc.

3)How can you develop more active listening skills in your classes?
To develop more active listening skills I can organize movie time classes, use some parts of daily news, weather forecast, poscast. There are lots of authentic materials to develop students listening skills. But the teacher should be sure whether the activity is suitable for the students’ age, language level.

This morning before class I thought it would be a boring day as today’s topic was grammar. But it was interesting. I usually teach grammar by using traditional teaching methods. But Katty’s activies and exercises were enjoyable and fun. I will definitely use her method in my classes. Matching activity was my favourite. In this method the students are semi- controlled. I can get them interested in grammar activities.
I’m definitely happy to be here and learn such amazing things. Plus, not having classes in the afternoon was nice. We had an opourtunity to see historical sites of Erzurum, take cable car in Palandöken, taste local dishes.

Every day I tell myself this is the best day. But each day is much better. But I think today’s session was one of the best. Teaching vocabulary is really hard and it takes time both for the teachers and students. I usually give the students a list of vocabulary the memorise first. Then I play games to recall the words. But it doesn’t work properly actually. Some students get bored as they are not get involved or curious about the words. But today I learnt a couple of activities some of which are digitals and the others are nondigital. I can prepare some digital and non digital vocabulary activities to make them curious and get them interested. I will definitely find one of the activity interesting to join.
I like all of the activities but my favourite was Dolmuş activitiy. As the students are compete with their peers they will do their best to win. As Dolmuş is one of the most popular vehicles Turkish people take to have trips it will be fun to have this activity.
I will definitely share all of the activities eith my colleagues in my area. I know there are many things that I should learn and I really want to learn more. Because when the English teachers in my area come together in the beginning and end of the school term they ask if any one have briliant ideas how to teach efficiently or ask if anyone uses different methods or activities in their class.
I want to learn new activities especially to teach English properly, improve my students language skills. A think language is a tool to share our ideas, opinions and experiences, to communicate. But we usually teach only grammar or words. Teaching language is not this. Most of Turkish people know grammar but they can make themselves clear or they can not communicate in English. I want to break taboos and to my best to improve myself, help my students to improve their English.

Definitely I understand the role of PLC facilitator. I wish we had been informed about the facilitators’ role when we applied. Of course there were some explanations about the issue but not clear.
I really feel lucky to be here, have such an amazing experience. Because this training program gave me a chance to refresh myself, improve my teaching skills. However I feel a little bit disappointed. Because the thing that motivated me to join this program was to have an oppurtunity to go to UK to learn more.
Plus the other thing which is demotivate me is to organize a PLC merting every month. Because I am really busy and I am preparing for my Phd study and I do not want to be much busier. I really do not want to neglect my students because of the meetings. I love them and I am happy to be with them. I would like to organize one or two meeting and share my experiences with my colleagues. As I said I do not want to neglect my students.
