One main idea of the Industrial Revolution was the change from mainly farming to mainly working in factories. Before, most of America was an agricultural and focused on farming. The shift from agricultural working to factory working helped America's economy boom. Less farmers were needed, and more unskilled labor workers in factories were needed.

Another main idea of the Industrial Revolution was shifting from slowly hand made goods to faster machine made goods. Before, people would have to make all items by hand. This process would take a very long time and the skilled worker would have to be paid a lot. The shift to machine made goods helped these items be made faster and cheaper.

Vocab Word That I Learned

One vocabulary word that I have learned in this section is the Bessemer process. This process helps turns iron into steel. The price of steel was made less due to this process and more steel buildings were made. The Bessemer Process helped boost the economy of America.

Most Interesting Thing I've Learned this Unit

The most interesting thing that I learned this unit is that there were only a few very rich people. While the rest of the country was working class. The country was made of men who owned the companies and most of the country who worked for them. Steel, Oil, and railroads controlled most of the open market which I find very interesting.

One way my life connects with the industrial revolution is that my family immigrated to America around the time of the Industrial Revolution. My family connects with the working class of the industrial revolution. I assume since my family immigrated over around then that my family was part of the unskilled labor force. My great grand parents could have been part of one of the first labor unions.
