This is a video that will act as an introduction to my ninth grade ELA quarter two unit. It follows the "Hook, Meat, and Payoff" presentation structure and I used Boords to create my storyboard. I will be showing this to all of my students, but it is primarily focused toward those students who are high ability but low readiness. These students have the skills they need in order to be successful in school, but are often unmotivated to do so. My hope is that a preview of what is to come will motivate them by helping them to find something in the content to connect to.

This video will act as an "advertisement" for a semi-mandatory study/make-up session that I will be hosting during homeroom twice a week. It follows the "Drama" presentation structure and I used Boords to create my storyboard. I will be showing this presentation to all of my students, but it has been primarily created for my students who are low ability and low readiness. These are the students who need extra time and help. I am using this video to remind these students of a few things. First, it is ok to ask for and to seek out help. Second, to remind them of the positive aspects of keeping their scores up and passing the class. Finally, my goal is that it will help to ease them into the study sessions and incentivize them to put in the extra effort.

This video will act as a brief tutorial for two tools that my 9th grade students will be using in the coming weeks. I used StoryboardThat to create me story board and it kind of follows the "pitch" structure, in that I'm trying to persuade my students that this tool is easy to use and that it's helpful for them to learn it. These students will be using Screencastify to create short how-to tech videos and then use ClipChamp to edit those videos. They will then post their videos to our class website where they will serve as a how-to compendium for students who are hesitant to try new tech due to their low ability, but high readiness. The students who are high ability and high readiness will explore the tools in their own ways, but the students with low ability often need a bit more support in order to overcome their initial hesitation. My hope is that this video will act as a resource to boost their confidence in and understanding of the tools.

This is a poetry unit that the students will work on throughout the month of December. I did not create all of the content but have used most of the handouts and material successfully in the past. I have modified the content to fit the needs of this 9th grade ELA class. Students wrote their poetry during the first quarter, and will now work with partners or in small groups to workshop their poems. Their poems must be 1-3 minutes in length when read aloud, contain at least five examples of poetic language, and they must either perform one of their poems in front of the class, or record a performance of all four of their poems and submit the video to me. Because this unit is designed for all levels of learners, I will be fulfilling all rolls in the classroom.

I used GoFormative to create a short assessment for students to complete independently. This will be used after we have completed a similar assessment (same questions, different poem) as a class and with small groups. This is for my high ability, high/low readiness learners. The high readiness kids will fly through it and be able to move on to the next part of our poetry assignment, and I'm hoping the low readiness kids will see it as a different type of engagement than just another handout or worksheet.

Sharing is a little weird for this website; it will have you create a copy in order to view it.
link https://goformative.com/clone/MBLWUV
