I can infer that Caitlin has a hard time communicating with other people and using her manners. She probably finds social interactions difficult and nerve racking. Sousing her manners when talking to other people must feel like a reward.

She knows that whenever people talk to her that it's just going to be about her brother. I think she isn't ready to talk about her brother and wants to avoid talking to people at all so that she doesn't have to keep hearing about her brother.

I feel like she is handling her grief in a way that she doesn't even know. Since the table and the chest are both raw wood, she feels obligated to keep the table clean for her brother. She feels likes the blood is ruining the table and therefore, ruining the chest.

I can infer that Caitlin will finish Devon's chest. She will do it so that he can become an Eagle. I feel like when she does this, she will fully unlock how she feels about Devon's death. It will give her comfort in knowing that she helped her brother achieve this.

On page 22 it states, "Just call the pizza guy. He shakes his head. It's Thursday. Lets eat what we have here. But it's pizza night. No Caitlin." Obviously, Caitlin's dad doesn't want to order pizza. I can infer this is because he doesn't want to be reminded of Devon. It's not that thinking about him makes him not happy, it does. But thinking about him will make him down because he just misses him. On the other hand, Caitlin wants to order pizza because she doesn't wanna let go of the memory she had with Devon.

I can relate to this quote. I personally don't like my food being mixed either. I don't really know why though. I feel like it messes up the taste of foods if they get mixed together. That might be the same reason Caitlin doesn't like her food being mixed either.

Josh thinks that Caitlin believes it was Josh's fault even though that is not true. She was just trying to teach him his manners but it turned into Devons death being brought up. I think this caused Caitlin to have a breakdown. Being reminded that your brother got shot in a school shooting must be hard for her.

"NOOOO! I hear a scream and only when I try to run far FAR away from it but it keeps following me do I realize that it's me." This shows that Caitlin gets upset when Devon is mentioned. Devon was an important role model for Caitlin and she misses him a lot. She screams because she doesn't want to accept that Devon is dead. She wants him to always be next to her giving advice and support. His death is very difficult for her because she lost the only person who she felt understood her.
