Thank you for the detail and clarity. You seem to understand how to notice yourself in a way that will allow you to continue the growth (physical, technical and emotional) you have made thus far. In-class Reflection.... 1/16/15

During this class, I got to know a little bit more about the history of salsa. This dance first came from Africa and it later migrated to Cuba. In Cuba, salsa was danced by the African slaves that were taken there. Later, when the music and instruments started to develop, things started to change. For example, rumba had all the salsa instruments and added "clave". Later, when Cuban salsa migrated to America thanks to Celia Cruz, this music was not combined with Puerto Rican dance. She also started to combine with Cuban music with jazz. She was a really famous artist, especially for her salsa songs. To me, she is one of my favorite artist because of the feelings she added to each of the songs whenever they were performed. I got to learn more about the salsa, and I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely -- the "basic step" is the foundation but the funk and flavor of the dance is the ability of the dancer to be creative and spontaneous. In the clip you watched the dancers are using movements from other Cuban dance forms both popular and folkloric.

Be sure to reread your writing. There are some spelling and grammar usage errors.
