         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>17.The Al-Nishraq Fire:</strong>The Al-Mishraq fire occurred at the Al-Mishraq State Sulfur Plant, located in Mosul, Iraq, in June of 2003. This serious disaster is believed to be the result of an intentional fire set on June 24th, which burned at the plant for nearly a month before it was finally extinguished. During the course of the fire, the flames released high amounts of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide into the surrounding environment, which resulted in the death of the surrounding vegetation and serious health concerns for those living in the area.</div>]]></description>
