Proposals

To resolve the refugee crisis, the EU must accept all refugees and place them proportionately in the population of the Member States

On 29th april we took a seat in the European Parliament and experienced the decision-making process directly through this card game! 

We debated, negotiated, compromised and voted on a law proposal how to distribute refugees in Europe.

In around 2 hours we learnt about the European Parliament collaborating closely and also we improved public speaking and diplomatic skills.

Giorgia was the President of the E. Parliament for this day.

People migrating to Italy come from different parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, and Europe. The reasons for leaving their country can be diverse, such as seeking better economic opportunities, escaping conflicts or persecutions, or seeking a better life for themselves and their families.

● The green group wanted any language courses for a better integration of refugees.

Encourage them to work because they can be very useful.

● Liberal group wanted to accept all refugees and place them in proportion to the

population of the Member States.

● The socialists and democrats wanted to accept all refugees and place them

in proportion to the population of the Member States and build new reception centres

for them.

● The EPP group didn’t want refugees in Europe since they would prefer to finance

their countries of origin.

● Conservative group didn’t want to accept refugees in all countries, only in those who

have the possibility.

After a long discussion, the HOME committee came to a final text:

In order to resolve the refugees crisis, the EU must accept all these and relocate regugees in

proportion to the GDP and the economic availability of the states.

However, a check will be carried out every 5 years to prove the actual entry into the country .

This will be supported by language courses and agencies specialised in the employment of

refugees.

In case of non-integration, the person will be moved to another state of the union.

To this end, the Member States are invited to set up a cooperation network, indicating the

jobs available in each country.
