Why is it important to study Early Islamic civilisation?

Following a whole class input, the children looked at a range of photos to try and establish why we should learn about the Early Islamic Civilisation. Once we had worked out that learning about EIC was important due to the advances in maths/science/medicine etc, we explored how each area was enriched. We then worked in table teams to come up with the 'Top 3 Legacies of EIC' before presenting and justifying their answers to class. *See following video as example.

We’ve had a half-term holiday since our last lesson so today’s learning consisted of lots of conversation to begin with.
