The place operated like a transactional ecosystem where influence, information, luxury, and exploitation blurred together beneath artificial neon lights.

At first, Hao believed he could navigate the environment the same way he always had; through his unique glamour, conversation, and emotional distance. But within the underground scene, companionship was ownership. His body was his no longer, he was something to be admired, touched, displayed, and consumed beneath dim lights and expensive alcohol. For the first time in his life, Hao understood exactly how little he knew about this world.

He felt unbearably naive. The elegance he had once worn so confidently suddenly felt fragile, almost childish against the reality of Pharos City’s underbelly. Raised in the upper districts of Pharos City, Hao spent most of his childhood surrounded by diplomats, brokers, politicians, wealthy patrons, and high-ranking figures connected to the Universal Peace Alliance. His household functioned close to a social institution fueled by stocks and performace. Silverblood children were expected to embody elegance, emotional restraint, and composure from a young age, taught that their glamour reflected directly upon their lineage.

As the Zhang family’s financial standing weakened despite their lingering prestige, Hao gradually became more directly involved within nightlife culture under the guise of glamour performance and companionship. Silverblood Fae remained highly sought after due to their refined glamour abilities and lingering cultural mystique, allowing families like his to preserve relevance through social proximity rather than authority.

Hao’s reputation spread quickly throughout elite circles. Patrons described him as emotionally intoxicating, elegant, difficult to understand, and impossible to fully forget. However, Hao found himself sinking deeper into Pharos City’s underbelly, until the line between survival and self-destruction blurred so completely that he no longer remembered what breathing freely felt like.
