This article brings light to the 18 homelessness programs in San Diego which have been left unstable due to mismanaged funding towards the programs. This unstable funding can cause a cut of 94 million dollars if nothing is done to protect that funding. The article emphasizes how several organizations and activists are pushing for more stable funding for the homeless organizations in San Diego to provide stable housing and help those in need.

San Diego is a city on the coast of California that is home to more than a million residents. San Diego like many other cities across the U.S. has a homelessness problem more specifically in its downtown area. This issue is due to the lack of importance and planning of the city and its funding towards better programs such as homelessness. As the article states, it is a technical positive thing to be able to have funding for such programs, but the negative effect of this would be the uncertainty of the funding. Of course, this does in turn have massive effects on the homeless and other impacted communities like older citizens and lower-income citizens.

It focuses on how different measurements have been taken to be able to in their words "control" the issue. This of course causes displacement and is inhumane, not only that but it increases the issue rather than diminishing it.

San Fransico is a city in the Bay Area of California known for its chilly weather and its hills throughout the streets. But of course, like many other cities in the U.S. like San Diego, it suffers from homelessness and housing issues.

The affected individuals in this specific case would be the homeless, service providers, and residents. Because these specific issues concentrate on relocating and displacing homeless people from their area this can result in a shelter capacity crisis, in which shelters for homeless people can become full thus creating a bigger issue. Although this can have its pros such as reducing the visibility of homeless people, its cons can be relocation crises and full shelters, it can also affect the mental health of the affected individuals. Because of this, there have been some changes in the policy which would be the reduction of encampments and allocation of city funds. The city due to these movements has begun to plan and implement projects such as city workers offering transportation of the individuals and tracking of the occupation of beds in shelters to try and minimize the issue.

This was very heartwrenching for me because I've personally been to San Francisco and have seen how the issue of homelessness there is very concerning. These measures of using force to relocate or get rid of encampments have to be one of the main causes for the rapid growth of homelessness in the city. The laws that are implemented are inhumane and hopefully instead of the government stepping in I hope that there are more organizations put in place to be able to keep the issue at bay and keep the peace of mind of these individuals.

The start of the article focuses on the efforts that were made to keep housing for many homeless and low-income citizens after the COVID-19 pandemic. Such efforts done by the CDC were about to expire. This of course puts many people in danger of eviction and was targeted towards people of color. This can be seen as an eviction crisis and the stakeholders are renters and POC. The second part focuses on the stability part and is a leading example of how housing should be offered to homeless and low-income citizens. The efforts are more pointed towards youth but should of course also be applied to older homeless and middle-aged homeless citizens. The third part of the article focuses on banning public encampments and how this can affect those are rely on moving and staging their encampments to be able to have somewhere to sleep. Although the article doesn't specify any type of resolution for such issues one can think that for the first part, the evictions were followed through due to the expiration of the CDC's efforts to maintain affordable housing. For the second part, we can assume that everything went smoothly with the new foster housing, and for the last part, we can assume that due to legal restrictions, banning encampments was probably not followed through.

For starters, we can see the various efforts done by each state to combat homelessness, and from the article on can realize that the issue can be solved but needs more support and a base influx of funds towards more projects for example the project that was one in the second part of the article in Indiana that is a very good example of affordable and fair housing for people who do not wish to spend all their money.

All of the articles can relate because they all share one common topic which would be homelessness and how it has become even more mismanaged throughout the years. The articles are just able to show us how much of a deeper issue is when the local government doesn't step in or make it their priority to keep the issue of homelessness at bay. This can also relate to city planning and how homeless and low-income people are never acknowledged when planning a city. Thus causing a housing crisis, uncertainty from the government, and uncertain funding towards progress in combating homelessness.
