According to the NRS they are the 5^th most popular women’s magazine. They sell 2.168 million copies a month and 188,000 people viewed the magazine online.

They have been known to be rude and untrue towards celebrities even going so far as making up roomers and causing celebrities to be treated like criminals. In the past they have given out extremely offensive stickers with their magazine.

The front cover uses large bold fonts to make the features and title stand out and look more interesting. The bright colours attract the readers eye making them want to pick up the magazine and find out more about whats inside. The adverts in this magazine all advertise things related to movies as they know that it is the soul interest of the reader of this magazine

The cover of this magazine also uses bold text to attract the readers eye and make them look at the magazine. The interviews in this magazine are usually with directors and writers of movies that are about to be released. The use colours that match the character shown on the front cover to make the magazine look like it is based around that particular film.

This magazine uses simple text to make the cover look very relaxed. The font for the title is small showing that the title is not the important thing as is puts the main film character in front of the title. The interviews in this magazine are with actors normal talking about the characters they play in a new film they star in.

My focus group will take place in my dining room as it is very well lit during the day and has a very sortable table where I can have three people sitting around the end of the table as it will be good for the camera placement and it will be perfect for giving the video a more sociable feeling. The people taking part in my focus group will be Simon Robinson (my dad), Julie Robinson (step mum) and Jack Robinson (my brother).

my questions were not very good at the start because they were difficult to put into statistics and graphs so I had to adapt them so i could analyse them and put them into graphs.

My focus group questions proved to be a challenge for me because I struggled to make questions that would spark a discussion and make people talk about their opinions but when i conducted my focus group i used the questions as a baseline and improvised so they would start a discussion.

From my secondary internet research i learnt so much more about my intended audience by using audience profiles of film magazines and using the media pack for empire magazine. This research helped me understand the audience of film magazines and it helped me shape my magazine to become the idea i have today and the changes i will be making to my plans.

My questionnaires showed me that most of the people who have read the magazine think that the picture is the most important part of the cover of a magazine but the people who don't read film magazines said it was things like the features and title.

My voxpop interviews taught me that most people think that the cover of a magazine is the most important part when attracting the audience but one of the people i interviewed said that the most important part was the part that showed what was featured in this magazine because they are what makes the audience truly want to buy the magazine because of what it contains and not what it looks like.

Focus group

In my focus group I asked modified versions of the questions I have used in my voxpop interviews and my questionnaires. When I conducted this focus group I showed a copy of Empire magazine so anyone who didn't know the magazine could make their best judgment on the magazine and they could contribute to the discussion about the magazine. 

When I asked what they thought was the most important part of the front cover was they mostly answered by saying it was the picture but when I asked why they could only say that it attracts the eye. After discussion they came to the conclusion that the text that shows what is inside the magazine was the most important part because it is what tells the audience what they will get from buying this magazine.
